Ibrahim says : Greetings of Peace to one and all

    Dear All,

How humane are those who claim they are tolerant, spiritual , democratic, secular ? Lets look at our world to see how those who claim to be talking about moderation, tolerance, secular , democracy are practicing what they preach.

Godhra bogie was burnt from inside: Report http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/headlines.htm http://english.netjaal.com/

    TIMES NEWS NETWORK [ WEDNESDAY, JULY 03, 2002 12:05:58 AM ]

AHMEDABAD: The mystery over the burning of the S-6 compartment of Sabarmati Express at Godhra on February 27, which killed 59 passengers and set off an unprecedented spate of communal frenzy all over Gujarat, has turned deeper with the forensic report on the incident discounting the possibility of the mob throwing inflammable liquid from outside and then setting the bogie on fire.

Investigations made by the Ahmedabad-based Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) have now shown that almost 60 litres of inflammable material was poured from inside the compartment before it was set on fire.

A report by the FSL's Assistant Director Dr M S Dahiya, which is part of the charge-sheet filed in the Godhra case about a month back, is based on a study of the pattern of the burns in the compartment and a simulated exercise conducted on May 3 to recreate the incident. The report contradicts the view held so far that the mob which attacked the train threw inflammable liquid at the train using buckets and cans from a distance, even while the passengers had shut all the windows and doors of the compartment.

To recreate how the crime must have been committed, a train bogie was placed at the same spot. Using a variety of different containers, it was doused with liquid for experimental observation.

The report said the height of the window of the bogie was found to be seven feet. In these circumstances, it was not possible to throw inflammable liquids into the bogie from the outside with the help of a bucket or a jerry-can because by this method most of the liquid fell outside the bogie.
At the spot of the incident, at about a distance of 14 feet, there was a mound of gravel-stones about 3 feet high. It was spread parallel to the bogie for a long distance. The FSL officials, standing on the mound, threw water on the windows of the bogie, of which only about 10 to 15 per cent entered the bogie. The rest fell on the outside. Since, a major portion of the inflammable liquid fell on the tracks and around it, it would have caused damage on the outside of the bogie and under it.
The report says, "after inspecting the bogie and the tracks, it was found that there is no effect of fire below the windows. Taking this fact into account and the burning pattern on the outside of the bogie, the conclusion is that no inflammable liquid was thrown into the bogie from the outside". It further says, "it also does not look possible that inflammable liquid was thrown in from the doors of the bogie".

As a next step, using a bucket, about 60 litres of water was thrown into the passage of the compartment from one side and then a large part of the bogie was covered. Water thrown like this went only in one direction, no part of it flowed outside from the open doors or in the direction of the latrine.
"On the basis of this experimental observation, the conclusion is that standing in the passage of the compartment near seat number 72, using a container with a wide opening, about 60 litres of inflammable liquid has been poured and then immediately a fire has been started in the bogie," the report says.

The FSL report further says that "it appears that three of the four doors of the compartment were open when it was burning while all the windows were shut. The pattern of burning (allegatoring pattern) shows that the intensity of the heat was four times more towards the eastern side (towards seat no. 72 of the bogies".
Ibrahim says: Even after entire communities had perished , they blamed the Muslims and slaughtered them in the name of religion . While the west claimed they alone are humane and are fighting terrorists ( pointing the finger at Muslims) without any verifiable evidence to this date .

IF THIS STORY ABOUT LETTING AN OLD WOMAN DIE OUTSIDE THE HOSPITAL BECAUSE SHE WORE A HEAD COVERING UPSETS YOU, AS IT SHOULD, YOU MIGHT LIKE TO CONTACT THE AMBASSADOR OF TURKEY .

SP deputy demands inquiry for the death of headscarved woman

Pro-religion Saadet (happiness or contentment) Party (SP) deputy Mehmet Bekaroglu presented an official question to the Parliament Speaker's Office to be replied by Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit, regarding the death of a 71-old woman, after she was rejected by a hospital on the grounds that she had a headscarved photo on her health card.

Bircan, who suffered from cancer and kidney failure, died a couple of days after the Istanbul University Capa Hospital refused to treat her because of the headscarved photo. Bircan's family filed a complaint with the prosecutor's office against the Istanbul University Rector Kemal Alemdaroglu and vice rector Prof. Nur Serter.

In his statement, Bekaroglu claimed that the dress code, which was in effect for the public officials, put also in practice for those who received public services thanks to certain public officials. Bekaroglu asked whether an investigation was launched into the hospital officials who refused to treat her.

Bekaroglu also advised the parliamentary human rights committee to set up a subcommittee to investigate the incident. He also applied to the Turkish Doctors Union to launch an investigation into the doctors, who refused to treat an emergency patient.

      Subject: Zainab Medals

      Hello

I am writing to you to thank you for your kind words of support regarding our stand for justice.

Zainab, having fought in several Judo tournaments in London, wearing her Hijab, was reduced to tears by the way she was treated by the French.

I have attached a photograph taken in the sports centre car park in Paris of Zainab, her mum and the other 71 children in our team.

35 of these remarkable kids returned their hard won medals in protest ( I think thats why they look so glum).

According to Kashmir Media Service the spokesman of Hurriyat Conference in a statement have particularly denounced the lates custodial killing of one Ghulam Nabi Butt who has been killed by Border Security Force personnel after arresting him on June 26 from Nowshera, a suburb of Srinagar. Ghulam Nabi Butt was father of two children and manufactured utencils to earn his living. The BSF personnel have admitted that Ghulam Nabi's death occurred due to physical torture. If you got your news only from the television, you would have no idea of the roots of the Middle East conflict, or that the Palestinians are victims of an illegal military occupation.

          By : John Pilger (27 June 2002)
          http://pilger.carlton.com/print/109424

In May, the Glasgow University Media Group, distinguished for its pioneering media analysis, published a study of the reporting of the Israeli/ Palestinian conflict www.gla.ac.uk/departments/sociology/Israel.pdf. It ought to be required reading in newsrooms and media schools. The research showed that the public's lack of understanding of the conflict and its origins was compounded by news reporting, especially on television.

Viewers, says the study, are rarely told that the Palestinians are victims of an illegal military occupation. The term "occupied territories" is almost never explained. Indeed, only 9 per cent of young people interviewed knew that the Israelis were the occupiers and the "settlers" were Israeli. The selective use of language is important. The study found that words such as "murder", "atrocity", "lynching" and "savage, cold-blooded killing" were used only to describe Israeli deaths. "The extent to which some journalism assumes the Israeli perspective," wrote Professor Greg Philo, "can be seen if the statements are 'reversed' and presented as Palestinian actions. [We] did not find any [news] reports stating that 'The Palestinian attacks were in retaliation for the murder of those resisting the illegal Israeli occupation'."

Given that the central truth of the conflict is routinely obscured, none of this is surprising. News and current affairs programmes seldom, if ever, remind viewers that Israel was established largely by force on 78 per cent of historic Palestine and, since 1967, has illegally occupied and imposed various forms of military rule on the remaining 22 per cent. The media "coverage" has long reversed the roles of oppressor and victim. Israelis are never called terrorists. Correspondents who break this taboo are often intimidated with slurs of anti-Semitism - a bleak irony, as Palestinians are Semites, too.

Having long ago recognised Israel's "right" to more than two-thirds of their country, the Palestinian leadership has contorted itself in order to accommodate a maze of mostly American plans designed to deny true independence and ensure Israel's enduring power and control. Until recently, this was reported uncritically as "the peace process". When ordinary Palestinians cried "enough!" and rose up in the second intifada, armed mostly with slingshots, they were put down by snipers with high-velocity weapons and with tanks and Apache gunships, supplied by the United States.

And now, in their despair, as some are turning to suicide attacks, the Palestinians appear on the news only as bombers and rioters, which, as the Glasgow study points out, "is, of course, the view of the Israeli government". The latest euphemism, "incursion", is from the vocabulary of lies coined in Vietnam. It means assaulting human beings with tanks and planes. "Cycle of violence" is similar. It suggests, at best, two equal sides, never that the Palestinians are resisting violent oppression with violence. A Channel 4 Dispatches recently "balanced" the Israeli assault on the Jenin refugee camp with a Palestinian attack on a "settlement". There was no explanation that these are not settlements at all, but armed, illegal fortresses that are central to a policy of imposing strategic and military control.

On 9 June, the Correspondent series on BBC Television broadcast a report about the recent siege of the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem. This was an exemplar of the problems identified in the Glasgow research. It was, in effect, an Israeli occupation propaganda film put out by the BBC. It was made as a co-production with an American channel, and the credits listed the producer as Israel Goldvicht, who runs an Israeli production company.

That would have been fine had the film-makers made any attempt to challenge the Israeli military with whom they had ingratiated themselves. "The Israelis were determined not to damage the buildings," began the narrator. "The international press were cleared from Manger Square, but we were allowed to stay and observe the Israeli operation . . ." With this "unique access" unexplained to the viewers, the film presented one Colonel Lior as the star good guy, guaranteeing "medical treatment to anyone wounded", saying a cheery hello on a mobile phone to a friend in Oxford Street and, like any colonial officer, speaking about and on behalf of the Palestinians.

"Killers" were described by the colonel without challenge by the BBC/Israel Goldvicht team. They were "terrorists" and "gunmen", not those resisting the invasion of their homeland. Israel's right to "arrest" foreign peace protesters drew no query from the BBC. Not a single Palestinian was interviewed. As the sun set on his fine profile, the last word went to the good colonel. The issues between the Israelis and Palestinians, he said, "were personal points of view".

Well, no. The brutal subjugation of the Palestinians is, under any interpretation of the law, an epic injustice, a crime in which the colonel plays a leading part. The BBC has always provided the best, most sophisticated propaganda service in the world, because matters of justice and injustice, right and wrong are simply usurped either by "balance" or by liberal sophistry; one is either "pro- Israeli" or "pro-Palestinian". Fiona Murch, the executive producer of Correspondent, told me that Israel Goldvicht Productions would not have won the "trust" of the Israeli army had the producer asked real journalistic questions. That was the way of "fly on the wall": a candid admission. "It was breaking a stereotype," she said. "It was about a good, decent man" (the colonel). She said I ought to have seen an earlier Correspondent series, which had Palestinians in it.

I think she was trying to offer that as "balance" for The Siege of Bethlehem - a film that might be dismissed as cheap PR, were it not for its complicity with a regime that uses ethnic difference to deny human rights, imprisons people without charge or trial, and murders and ortures "systematically", says Amnesty. Goebbels would have approved.

The WTC and the Pentagon Destruction
            Manufacturing Evidence

by Dr. M. Amir Ali, Ph.D.

"The investigation into the Sept. 11 attacks is the most comprehensive the world has ever known. Yet after wading through mountains of paper seized in Afghanistan, checking out hundreds of computer discs and interviewing scores of al-Qaeda detainees, investigators have found not a single reference to the Sept. 11 hijackers. 'Where's the intel on these people?' asks a senior FBI official. 'Even after all the time, there are no documents and nothing in the humint (human intelligence).'"
            – Michael Elliott in TIME magazine, June 3, 2002, P.39

            Background

It has been over nine months since the destruction of the World Trade Center (WTC) and the Pentagon. All thirteen investigative agencies of the U.S. government could not find a single bit of evidence to prove that Osama Binladin and his followers carried out the attack. Instead of focusing on Osama Binladin and Al-Qaeda, the U.S. should investigate the world's worst trio of criminals and mass murderers, Ariel Sharon, Richard Perle, Paul Wolfowitz and their comrades. The Bush Administration got into the business of manufacturing evidence to avoid its embarrassment of carrying out mass murders and destruction in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Muslim majority islands near the Philippines without any evidence of their guilt of 9-11. It is obvious that the evil trio are the puppeteers and the rest of the U.S. government is their puppet. Lately, this evil trio has been joined by the drunkard racist and religious bigot, Prime Minister of India Atal Behari Vajpayee, and Russia's Putin, who are conducting their own wars against Islam and Muslims in India and Chechnya, respectively. These criminals are responsible for plotting to crush Muslim people's aspirations and struggle for freedom from imperialism and hegemony of anti-Islam powers of the world.

            Manufactured Products

            (i) Video One

Manufacturing of the evidence began with a video tape allegedly found in Jalalabad. This tape was perhaps produced by Hollywood and paid for by some American government agency. If Hollywood and Disney can make animals talk with synchronized lip movements to go with the words, make Star War movies where man-made creatures talk, and cartoons that talk, why can't Hollywood produce a video with Osama Binladin speaking the words that the Bush Administration wants him to talk about. All it takes is a look-alike actor or simply Osama's picture. Once computer graphics people have a picture of the person they can clothe him anyway they desire, put other people around him, provide the desired background, put the words in his mouth in any language they desire – bingo, you've got manufactured evidence.

            (ii) Video two

Then, there was another video allegedly sent from Pakistan to Al-Jazira TV in Qatar by a courier service. There was no clue who sent it or why. It was obviously manufactured and sent by the CIA to fool the world that Osama was admitting his own guilt. It did not work with the Muslim world nor with one-half of the European population; only the gullible Americans believed because they have been brainwashed and conditioned over a period of two centuries to believe whatever their government and the media tell them, especially in foreign affairs. Since Islam and Muslims occupy a special place of hate and fear in the West, why not believe that the Muslims did it!

            (iii) Video three

The above two failures motivated the Bush government to try once more and perhaps it was the CIA who sent another video to Al-Jazira TV, which was shown worldwide. In this video it was again shown that Osama Binladin was admiring "the 19" who gave their lives for their cause. These three videos convinced only the most gullible among the Muslims and those who have always been yes-men to Bush commandments. The American people needed no more such evidence because they were already believers in their president and his administration.

            (iv) Article from "Osama"

After three failures with the Muslim population of the world there appeared an article/interview of Osama Binladin where he allegedly praised the 19 and promised more terrorism. A careful reading of the article would show that it was perhaps written by a CIA Osamalogist. This article also failed in convincing the Muslims that Osama has anything to do with the terrorism in the U.S.

            (v) Interview with "Mullah Omar"

Another attempt was made to convert Muslims into believers of Osama's guilt through an interview with Mullah Mohammad Omar published in Ash-Sharq Al-Awasat, a British Arabic language newspaper, and a translation in English was published in Arab News of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. In this interview Mullah Omar allegedly assured that the war will reach the White House. A careful scrutiny of the interview shows that it was perhaps written by the same Osamalogist in the CIA.

            (vi) Alleged shoe bomber

In between the Bush government produced the so called alleged Shoe Bomber, Richard Reid, who was arrested but there was no link produced to Al-Qaeda or Richard's targets. No one was hurt and no damage was done because it was carefully manufactured evidence. This was another ugly attempt to make the Muslims believe that Osama and his Al-Qaedah are terrorists but this did not work either.

            (vii) "The dirty bomb plotter"

Now, we have this Jose Padilla, aka Abdullah Al-Muhajir, who was allegedly identified by Abu Zubaydah. At first we need to investigate the identity of Abu Zubaydah whether he is a genuine Muslim struggling for freedom or a mole of the U.S. Assuming that he is a genuine Muslim struggling for the freedom of the Muslim world, why should he survive the fight and get arrested? A true fighter Muslim would rather die than become a prisoner without any legal recourse; getting arrested is out of character. Was it a true fight to arrest him or was it a show to save a mole while keeping his cover? Only a mole would cooperate with the tyrant master and provide information about a freedom fighter.

On the other hand Abu Zubaydah, if he is a true Muslim freedom fighter, would identify Jose Padilla only if he suspected or had evidence of him being an American mole. This scenario is more likely because Jose Padilla has not been charged, is kept out of the hands of civilian courts and is being kept in a safe place. If he was a mole he would be given a new identity at the proper time, a pension plan and a lump sum reward for his services if he did provide valuable services. The question arises that if he was a mole who returned home why then he was presented as enemy combatant? Actually, the Bush Administration needed a boost in the public opinion for successful spy work and Jose Padilla provided it. The operative principle is not to lose any opportunity available for positive publicity for the Bush administration. Perhaps this is the reason why he was kept for a month quietly before the government could decide how to use him for the benefit of the administration.

Regarding anything alleged to Abu Zubaydah as the source is a suspect and unreliable due to the lies and deception the Bush government is capable of. According to Michael Elliot in TIME Magazine of June 24, 2002, page 25: "U.S. officials have a reason for publicity attributing to him many of their leads, whether they originate with him or not. It declares to his old friends that he's turned colors and come over to our side.'" In this situation is there any credibility left with the U.S. government?

There is another possibility that Jose Padilla was a mole but turned to Islam and forgot his assignment, therefore, he was nabbed when they found him. Also there is a possibility that he was and remains a mole but he is being used and abused to elevate public opinion of the Bush administration.

            (viii) The phone chatter

We also heard about recorded phone chatter in Italy allegedly between Al-Qaeda operatives. Also we learn of recording of old chatter between alleged terrorists. The interesting part of this chatter discovery was that it was said that the chatter was in the Egyptian dialect which translators could not understand. Very interesting! In fact, the Egyptian dialect of the Arabic language is the most commonly understood dialect throughout the Arab world. All of this is part and parcel of manufacturing evidence. Who are they fooling?

            The Question

If the Bush administration claims that it has evidence to convict Osama Binladin then why does it not try him in absentia in a civil court, convict him and publish the evidence? This way the Muslim world will be convinced of his crime and some will help in apprehending the convict. The U.S. has precedence in trying suspects in absentia and obtaining convictions followed by search and extradition efforts, frequently successfully. As long as the U.S. avoids trying him in courts in absentia Muslims will be reluctant to believe in the manufactured evidence and propaganda against Osama and Al-Qaeda.

            Conclusions

Is this the end of manufacturing evidence? Hardly! I am sure that a lot more will be "revealed" after their manufacture and will be used as propaganda in the tradition of Josef Goebbels. His principle was to repeat, repeat, repeat and repeat more until a lie is believed to be a fact. The U.S. government and the media are following Goebbel's principle of manufacturing evidence and repeating it until the gullible people of America accept it as the fact.

            More terrorism to come

There may even be more terrorism by one or more teams of Israelis and Americans to further achieve the goal of fighting Islam. It is an ideological war and has nothing to do with terrorism. Donald Rumsfeld has said repeatedly that they (referring to Muslims) want to establish an Islamic system and he would not allow it. The world's worst terrorists are found within the American government structure, such as the CIA and the FBI, and in other terrorist countries like Israel, the Fundamentalist Hindu government of India, Russia, which is massacring Muslims in Chechnya, and let us not forget the Serbs. These terrorist states and their agencies are the menace and danger to mankind.

Israelis are not done with terrorism yet because the population of Muslims in the U.S. is still growing. Israelis and their Zionists friends in North America have set the goal of removing Islam from the West and fighting Islam in the Muslim countries. The growing Muslim population in the U.S. means their growing participation in politics, which means a demand for even-handed policies by the U.S. government. Eventually, U.S. Congressmen and Senators would have to pay heed to the growing Muslim demands and that would translate into less financial and military support for the Israelis. When the only Super Power withdraws its support of the tyrannical and racist government of Israel that would be the end of Israel. Israel's proactive action must be more terrorism within the U.S. and framing of Muslim Americans rather than outsider Arabs and Muslims. This would meet their requirement of starting a backlash against the Muslims in the U.S., creating an Inquisition-like situation. An Inquisition-like situation has attacks and murders of Muslims, burning of their centers and mosques, forcing them to renounce Islam, mass killings and massacres or giving the option of exile, if that option is given.

The preventive action by the Muslims is developing closer relations with the American people, educate them and try to remove their ignorance of Islam and Muslims. I have proposed a One Family a Month plan which has the potential of removing opposition to Islam and Muslims in America within the next ten years. American people are by nature good people but they have been duped into taking an anti-Islam position. Muslims have the duty of opening their eyes. The Muslim American leadership has failed miserably in this area – it is time that individual Muslims and Muslim families do their own share wherever they may be living.

Israel Bans Mosques’ Azan And Churches’ Ringing Bells

Mosques and churches targeted by Israel
Report By Awad Al Rajoub, IOL Palestine Correspondent

AL KHALIL (Hebron), July 3 (IslamOnline) – Ever since the start of its wide-scale military offensives on the Palestinian territories three months ago, the Israeli occupation army has launched a campaign against the places of worship as well as Muslim and Christian organizations, and have arrested several of those in charge there.

Israeli forces have bombed mosques and churches and have stormed dozens of charity organizations, confiscating or destroying parts of their properties. They have also abducted several officials working in these organizations,

Israeli forces recently abducted Sheikh Adel Al-Jindi, head of the Islamic charity organization in Al-Khalil, one of the largest Palestinian charity organizations. Azam Hassouna, head of the Muslim youth organization in Al-Khalil was also abducted.

The Israeli forces have also barred the mosques from raising the Azan (call for prayers) during a curfew, and the Friday sermons in nearly 80 per cent of mosques in the West Bank have been barred with several imams and orators abducted by the Israeli forces. Mosque equipment have also been confiscated.

The same goes for churches which have not been allowed to ring their bells or carry out their prayers in Bethlehem most of the times.

Raed Salah, head of the Islamic movement in the Palestinian lands, said that what is happening is above any “divine law or human tradition.”

Speaking to IslamOnline, he said that the Israeli occupation forces are doing as they wish in the West Bank and Gaza Strip without any legal deterrent and see themselves as above any law.

“This is getting worse day after day. Life in the West Bank and some parts of Gaza is paralyzed and it is clear that these barbaric conducts have caused hunger, constant siege and a total paralysis of life, including barring residents from reaching their mosques to call for prayer and pray,” he said.

He added it is sad that all this happens as the Arab and Muslim world watches silently as if everything is normal.

Regarding what the Islamic movement did regarding this problem, Salah said: “We have formed a committee for Humanitarian Relief, including a number of organizations concerned with relief, human rights, maternity and children as well as media. We have also rebuilt a number of mosques which have been destroyed.”

Anthony Salman, lawyer and head of the Antoine Lahd Charity Association in Bethlehem, said that the Israeli forces have been barring residents from going to the churches in their neighborhoods to pray.

“No resident, during curfew hours, is able to leave his home. That’s why we are unable to pray in churches,” he told IslamOnline.

Salman added that the occupation army has no ethical or religious deterrent as it has bombed the church of the Nativity and other churches in Bethlehem as well as a number of mosques. He added that these forces are against all religions.

Salman called upon those with “conscience” and “decision makers of the world” to hasten to rescue the holy shrines in Palestine and to take the necessary procedures to bring life back to normal.

Sheikh Tayseer Al-Tamimi, deputy supreme judge in Palestine, said that the Israeli forces have doubled their operations against the Palestinians since the latest address given by U.S. president George W. Bush.

“Bush’s speech has given Sharon the green light to bomb Palestinian territories, place Palestinians under siege, reoccupy all lands, enforce collective punishments and to ruin all Palestinian Authority institutions,” Al-Tamimi said.

Regarding the Israeli war against mosques, Al-Tamimi said that the army has been shutting the doors of mosques and barring worshippers from entering during curfew. In Jerusalem, the siege has been tightened around the city, barring the Palestinians, even those residing in Jerusalem, from reaching the Al- Aqsa Mosque.

The Israeli forces have also barred prayers from being held in the Ibraheemy Mosque in the old village of Al-Khalil, Al-Tamimi added.

Yousuf Salama from Al-Khalil said that he always used to pray in the mosque, but now he is unable to do so. “We used to pray during the day without any hassles; now, we don’t’ even hear the azan,” he said, adding that “occupation forces have there have imposed a curfew, and even if there is no curfew, they watch the residents and wait for them in public areas to abduct them.”

                Rise of a new imperialism
                John Pilger

July 3 2002 (Sydney Morning Herald)

It is nearly 10 months since September 11, and still the great charade plays on. Having appropriated our shocked and humane response to that momentous day, the rulers of the world have since ground our language into a paean of cliches and lies about the "war on terrorism" - when the most enduring menace, and source of terror, is them.

The fanatics who attacked America came mostly from Saudi Arabia, the spiritual home of al-Qaeda and the tutors of the Taliban, but no bombs fell on that oil-rich American protectorate. According to an American study, 5000 civilians were bombed to death in stricken, impoverished Afghanistan, where not a single al-Qaeda leader of importance has been caught, or to anyone's knowledge, killed. Osama bin Laden got clean away, as did the Taliban ruler Mullah Omah.

After this "victory", hundreds of prisoners, including the Australian David Hicks, were shipped to an American concentration camp in Cuba, where they have been held against all conventions of war and international law. No evidence of their alleged crimes has been produced. In the United States, more than 1000 people of Muslim background have "disappeared"; none has been charged. Legislation undermining the Bill of Rights has been rushed through Congress. For example, the FBI now has the power to go into libraries and find out who is reading what.

Meanwhile, the British and Australian governments made fools of their soldiers by insisting they followed America's orders and pursued Afghan tribesmen opposed to this or that favoured warlord. This is what British squaddies in puttees and pith helmets did over a century ago when Lord Curzon, Viceroy of India, described Afghanistan as one of the "pieces on a chessboard upon which is being played out a great game for the domination of the world".

There is no war on terrorism. It is the great game speeded up, and now more dangerous than ever.

Having delivered the Palestinians into the arms of Ariel Sharon, the Christian Right fundamentalists running the plutocracy in Washington turn their priorities to manufacturing more bombs and missiles to hurl at the 22 million suffering people of Iraq. Should anyone need reminding, this is a nation held hostage to an American-led embargo every bit as barbaric as their dictator. Iraq is the world's second greatest source of oil - the reason for the attack is that America wants another, less uppity thug to run it.

The Pentagon told former president Bill Clinton that an all-out attack on Iraq might kill "at least" 10,000 civilians. In a sustained propaganda campaign, journalists on both sides of the Atlantic have been used as "conduits" for rumours and lies. These ranged from allegations about an Iraqi connection with anthrax attacks in the US to a link between the leader of the September 11 hijacks and Iraqi intelligence. Both have been discredited.

The great charade is imperialism's return journey to respectability.

As the historian Frank Furedi reminds us in The New Ideology of Imperialism, it is not long ago "that the moral claims of imperialism were seldom questioned in the West. Imperialism and the global expansion of the Western powers were represented in unambiguously positive terms as a major contributor to human civilisation". The quest went wrong when it was clear that fascism, with all its ideas of racial and cultural superiority, was imperialism too, and the word vanished from academic discourse. In the best Stalinist tradition, imperialism no longer existed.

When the Soviet Union collapsed, a new opportunity arose. The economic and political crisis in the developing world, largely the result of post-colonialism, such as the blood-letting in the Middle East and the destruction of commodity markets in Africa, served as retrospective justification for imperialism. Although the word remains unspeakable, the Western intelligentsia, conservatives and liberals alike, boldly echo the preferred euphemism, "civilisation".

From Italy's Prime Minister, Silvio Berlusconi, an ally of crypto-fascists, to impeccably liberal commentators, the new imperialists share a concept whose true meaning relies on a comparison with those who are uncivilised, inferior and might challenge the "values" of the West.

The great divisions opening up between the rich and poor are reduced to platitudes of how best "we" deal with "them" - an attitude expressed in the return of xenophobia and racism towards refugees, led aggressively by the Howard Government.

There are many blueprints for the new imperialism, but none as cogent as that of Zbigniew Brzezinski, adviser to several American presidents and one of the most influential gurus in Washington, whose 1997 book is said to have biblical authority among the George W. Bush gang and its "endless war" intelligentsia. In The Grand Chessboard: American Primacy and its Geostrategic Imperatives, Brzezinski writes: "Ever since the continents started interacting politically, some 500 years ago, Eurasia has been the centre of world power."

The key to controlling this vast area of the world is Central Asia. Dominance of Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan ensures not only new sources of energy and mineral wealth but a "guard post" over American control of the oil of the Persian Gulf. "What is most important to the history of the world?" asked Brzezinski. "The Taliban or the collapse of the Soviet Empire? Some stirred-up Muslims or the liberation of central Europe ...?" The "stirred-up Muslims" replied on September 11 last year.

Nation states, says Brzezinski, will be incorporated in the "new order". "To put it in a terminology that harkens back to the more brutal age of ancient empires," he says, "the three grand imperatives of imperial geostrategy are to prevent collusion and maintain security dependence among the vassals, to keep tributaries pliant and protected, and to keep the barbarians from coming together."

Brzezinski is not from the lunar right. He is as mainstream as Bush. He was President Jimmy Carter's national security adviser, who persuaded Carter to sign a secret executive order in 1979, funding a new Islamic terrorist movement, the Mujihadeen, which the CIA trained in Pakistan and Virginia and from which emerged Osama bin Laden, al-Qaeda and the Taliban. Brzezinski's followers include John Negroponte, the mastermind of American terror in Central America under Ronald Reagan in the 1980s, now Bush's ambassador to the United Nations. It was Negroponte who first warned the world, after September 11, that the US planned to attack any country it wished.

For those in thrall to, and neutered by, the supercult of America, the most salient truths remain taboos. Perhaps the most important taboo is the longevity of the US as both a terrorist state and a haven for terrorists. That the US in the only state on record to have been condemned by the World Court for international terrorism (in Nicaragua) and has vetoed a UN Security Council resolution calling on governments to observe international law, is unmentionable.

"In the war against terrorism," said Bush, "we're going to hunt down these evil-doers wherever they are, no matter how long it takes." Strictly speaking, it should not take long, as more terrorists are given training and sanctuary in the US than anywhere in the world. They include mass murderers, torturers, former and future tyrants and assorted international criminals.

There is no terrorist sanctuary to compare with Florida, currently governed by the President's brother, Jeb. In his book Rogue State, former senior State Department official Bill Blum describes a typical Florida trial of three anti-Castro terrorists who had hijacked a plane to Miami at knifepoint. "Even though the kidnapped pilot was brought back from Cuba to testify against the men," he wrote, "the defence simply told the jurors the man was lying, and the jury deliberated for less than an hour before acquitting the defendants."

General Jose Guillermo Garcia has lived in Florida since the 1990s. He
was head of El Salvador's military during the 1980s when death squads closely linked to the army murdered thousands of people. General Prosper Avril, the Haitian dictator, liked to display the bloodied victims of his torture on television. When he was overthrown, he was flown to Florida
by the US Government. Thiounn Prasith, Pol Pot's henchman and apologist at the UN, lives in Mount Vernon, New York. General Mansour Moharari, who ran the Shah of Iran's notorious prisons, is wanted in Iran, but is untroubled in the US.

Al-Qaeda's training camps in Afghanistan were kindergartens compared with the world's leading university of terrorism at Fort Benning in Georgia. Known until recently as the School of the Americas, it trained 60,000 Latin American soldiers, policemen, paramilitaries and intelligence agents in terrorism.

In 1993, the UN Truth Commission on El Salvador named the army officers who had committed the worst atrocities of the civil war; two-thirds of them had been trained at Fort Benning. In Chile, the school's graduates ran Pinochet's secret police and three principal concentration camps. In 1966, the US government was forced to release copies of the school's training manuals. For aspiring terrorists, these recommended blackmail, torture, execution and the arrest of witnesses' relatives.

The irony is that the US is also the home of some of history's greatest human rights movements, such as the 1960s epic campaign for civil rights.

Having just returned from the US, it seems the stirring has begun again. In an open letter to their compatriots and the world, published in the Herald on June 17, almost 100 of the US's most distinguished names in art, literature, journalism and education wrote: "Let it not be said that people in the US did nothing when their government declared war without limit and instituted stark new measures of repression. We believe that nations have the right to determine their own destiny, free from military coercion by great powers. We believe that all persons detained and prosecuted by the US Government should have the same right of due process. We believe that questioning, criticism and dissent must be valued and protected. Such rights are always contested and must be fought for. We, too, watched with shock the horrific events of September 11. But the mourning had barely begun when our leaders launched a spirit of revenge. The Government now openly prepares to wage war on Iraq - a country that has no connection with September 11. We say this to the world: too many times in history people have waited until it was too late to resist. We draw on the inspiration of those who fought slavery and all those other great causes of freedom that began with dissent. We call on all like-minded people around the world to join us."

It is time we joined them.

This is an edited extract from The New Rulers of the World, by John Pilger, published this month by Pan Macmillan Australia.

Well, Ibrahim, it seems you cannot resist the urge to propagandize, either. I'll give you that a lot of the media try their best to slant any presentation of ME news towards Israel, especially TV. But, the part about Bin Ladin, Al-Qu'eda, some Taliban and other assorted terrorists not being extremely hostile towards the US and Israel and having every intention of carrying out action against them is pure bunk. The videos are not faked, the letters of intent are authentic and one can't deny the existence of terrorist propaganda.

Ibrahim says: Sure Tomasso! they are real videos and real letters but only Problem they don't seem to have originated from the guilty as painted by the Americans, since they had already denied it from the start. And IF the accused have done them, they do not need to deny it at anytime.

Don’t be naïve, THINK, who had benefited from all this, so far.

Do you know how much the Americans have spent for their propaganda?

HINN FINDS AUDIENCE FOR CRITICISM OF ISLAM
By Darren Barbee and Josh Shaffer, Fort Worth Star-Telegram, 7/3/02 http://www.dfw.com/mld/startelegram/3591373.htm

With a voice like a conquering general, Benny Hinn walked to the edge of the stage and proclaimed to thousands of worshippers, "The Muslim population is going down!"

                      Cheers erupted like thunder.

The applause grew louder when the celebrated faith healer invited an Israeli tourism official on stage and offered his support to the war-torn country.

"We are on God's side," Hinn said. "This is not a war between Arabs and Jews. It's a war between God and the devil."

Several area ministers, joining the Grapevine-based Pentecostal on stage last week at American Airlines Center in Dallas, clapped and nodded their approval. The line between Christians and Muslims, they said later, is the difference between good and evil.

Scholars believe their condemnation points to a growing intolerance among Christian denominations. They see more of the faithful drifting to conservative camps, drawn by the easy explanations of a world divided neatly between friends and foes. And since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, Muslims are increasingly being pushed into the evil category.

"This is all part of a very depressing pattern in right-wing and evangelical circles," said Ibrahim Hooper, spokesman for the Dallas chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations. "The demonizing of Islam. The actual call for the elimination of Islam. It's disturbing."

The shift to the right among Christians can be traced to the same political drift toward conservatism, said Ronald Flowers, a religion professor at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth.

Those who are drawn to fundamentalism tend to seek an uncomplicated, old-fashioned world with enemies that can be easily identified, he said. "It's a search for certainty in an uncertain world," Flowers said. "The fact that Muslims and Christians worship the same God seems to escape these people..."

                        Sydney Muslim Man's Passport Revoked
By: Lincoln Wright, The Canberra Times (28 June 2002) http://canberra.yourguide.com.au/det...033&y=2002&m=6

Foreign Affairs Minister Alexander Downer has revoked the passport of a young Australian Muslim after being advised by intelligence officers the man was a security risk with possible links to terrorist networks in the Middle East.

Zak Mallah, 18, an unemployed Muslim from Greenacre, Sydney, said he would appeal to the Administrative Appeals Tribunal against the decision, which was apparently made on the advice of two Australian Security Intelligence Organisation officers who interviewed him.

Mr Mallah said he had told ASIO officers that Osama bin Laden, for all his faults, was a Muslim brother, and that US support for Israel was the ultimate cause of the September 11 terrorism.

A spokesman for Mr Downer confirmed that Mr Mallah would not receive a passport on the grounds that he was considered a security risk, but offered no further comment on the matter.

The president of the NSW Council for Civil Liberties, Cameron Murphy, said ASIO's actions in Sydney's Islamic community had attracted many complaints.

The council had received 16 separate complaints about ASIO's activities from Islamic groups and individuals in Sydney, involving serious civil liberties infringements, he said yesterday.

He had now lodged a complaint relating to one of those incidents to the Inspector General of Intelligence and Security, Bill Blick.

"We have identified a serious problem with the way ASIO is conducting itself," he said.

"ASIO is targeting these people without evidence. It is totally unreasonable. You wouldn't see someone from an Irish background being denied a passport because they support Sinn Fein."

According to Mr Mallah, ASIO's interviews with Muslim people in Sydney were widespread, and he never thought it would happen to him.

A member of the Lakemba Mosque, Mr Mallah participated in demonstrations against the Israeli Consulate in Sydney recently.

"It's happening with so many Muslims with ASIO in Sydney. They want to travel and before you know it they are being interrogated for unsatisfactory reasons," he said.

After applying for a replacement passport, Mr Mallah was interviewed in late May by two members of ASIO, when he told them that the reason for September 11 attacks was America's support for Israel.

CBS EXPOSES FAKED SLAVE "REDEMPTIONS" IN SUDAN

60 MINUTES II: SLAVE TRADE http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2002/...in508928.shtml

In Sudan, John Eibner has become an international celebrity by buying back slaves, using millions of dollars donated by thousands of people. But the donors may not be getting what they are paying for, and their good deeds may be making matters worse. Dan Rather reports.

Eibner estimates he has freed some 60,000 slaves. His work has been chronicled in newspapers and on TV screens around the world. Since he began his crusade in 1995, he has recruited the help of the media...

But what has been done to these people and to these children may not be what it appears. One insider has come forward with claims that the scenes of mass redemptions seen around the world are a hoax.

"It's a show. It's a circus, it's a staged event," says Jim Jacobson, who worked for Eibner before becoming a slave redeemer himself. Like Eibner, Jacobson had to work with a rebel army to find the slaves and free them. The Sudanese Peoples Liberation Army - the SPLA - provides the planes and protection, the intermediaries and the interpreters for the short time that slave redeemers are on the ground.

"We got up there, and there was a botched radio communication," Jacobson says of one "redemption."

"The word did not get there in time. The kids weren't waiting for us. I said, 'Where are the children?' And they said, 'Oh-- just wait-- or, you know, just go over here and meet with the village leader and-- you know, we-- we'll find the-- the slaves.'"

Then, Jacobson says, he watched the SPLA handlers round up children in the village and escort them over by the tree.

"Instant slaves," he says. "Kids of the village. Kids that were just playing around. I mean you know, I just wanted to cry..."

A civil war, fear and starvation compel villagers to be silent. But Roman Catholic missionary Mario Riva lived in Sudan for 24 years, saving the living, burying the dead and learning the local Dinka language. He says the translators he saw at an Eibner redemption purposely misinterpreting the words.

"For example," Father Riva says, "I tell him, 'Please, ask the people if they are-- they were slaves, or they are slaves or not.' And the translator says, 'Are you coming from home?' And they all say yes. And the white man sees the faces, and the heads saying yes. But he doesn't know what for."

He says the slave "traders" are local people given money to round up villagers and bring them to "redemptions." As for the people who may be playing the part of a slave, they may get a few coins to fill an empty belly...

                            IN THE NAME OF GOD
By Christopher Dickey, Newsweek, 5/20/02 http://www.msnbc.com/news/751096.asp

Amid the wanton slaughter of 40,000 Muslims and Jews, Christian knights "rode in blood up to their knees and bridle reins," reported a witness to the Crusaders' conquest of Jerusalem in 1099. "It was a just and splendid judgment of God."

In the nine centuries since, the sword and shield have given way to belt-bombs and battle tanks, but the righteous violence remains. A 20-year-old Jewish settler praying outside the Tomb of the Patriarchs in Hebron last week would understand it.

"This is the center of the Jewish nation," he said, wrapped in a white prayer shawl down to his ankles. "I pray to get rid of the Arabs and return the whole of Hebron to its rightful owners." (A couple of miles away is the grave of another Jewish settler, Baruch Goldstein, who shared that dream. He murdered 29 Muslim worshipers in 1994 before he himself was killed.)...
