    Do not despair of Allaah's mercy

    I would like to share the following email that i received, which is most well presented and excellently well written - masha'Allaah - in light of recent events.
    May Allaah fully reward its author for this valuable reminder and allow us all to understand its message.

    Do not despair of Allaah's mercy
    Bismillaahir Rahmaanir Raheem

    Assalaamu alaikum wa Rahmatullaahi wa Barakaatuhu

    All praise is for Allaah. We praise Him and seek His assistance. We ask for His forgiveness and take refuge in Him from the evil within ourselves and from the evil of our own deeds. He whom Allaah guides will never be diverted, yet whomever He sends astray will never find his way. I bear witness that there is no god but Allaah alone, He has no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and final messenger, may Allaah’s peace and blessings be on him and his family and on his companions.

    Fourteen hundred years ago, when Abu Bakr (may Allaah be pleased with him) and the Prophet (may the peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) were being physically abused in the mosque, he asked his oppressors, ‘Do you oppress a man for claiming that there is no God worthy of worship but Allaah?’ The same question may be asked today.

    For centuries, Muslims all over the world have been, and continue to be persecuted for their faith, and this bitter trend has made its taste known most lately in the countries of the Western world, where Muslims have become the victims of ‘faith-hatred’, incited by the events which took place in America last week, and fuelled by the prevailing and evident ignorance of the Kuffaar. Many blame the media, saying the name ‘Bin Laden’ was at the tips of journalists’ pens before the events even took place. But we have to remember, that it is the plot of the Shaytaan to lead people away from Allaah, and those who are most submissive to his whisperings are those who are already far away from Him. Allaah has warned us against relying on the disbelievers too much in the Qur’aan;
    ‘Let not the believers take the disbelievers as Auliyaa’ (supporters, helpers etc) instead of the believers, and whosoever does that will never be helped by Allaah in any way, except if you indeed feel a danger from them..’ Aal-Imraan: 28

    ‘ Those who take disbelievers for Auliyaa’ (protectors, helpers) instead of the believers, do they seek honour, power and glory with them? Verily, then to Allaah belongs all honour, power and glory.’ An-Nisaa’: 139

    Many of us do not take heed of these warnings, and still expect different treatment from the disbelievers, particularly their governments. To Allaah belongs all Might, and current events will develop as He wills. We are told by the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) that when we are stricken by a mishap or overtaken by an affair, we must be patient and say Qaddara Allaahu wa maa shaa’a fa3al (‘Allaah has decreed and what He wills, He does’), and this is the attitude of the believer.

    The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and the Sahaabah were tested fourteen hundred years ago in their faith, they were tormented, tortured and oppressed by the disbelievers in manners more severe and extreme than we are facing. Now we have embarked upon our test of faith - Will we remove our hijabs and shave off our beards for fear of persecution? Or will we remain patient and steadfast, and remember,
    ‘No misfortune happens without the permission of Allaah – and as for whoever believes in Allaah, He guides his heart; and Allaah Knows all things’ At-Taghaabun: 11

    Will we take these trials as our tests, and exercise patience with what befalls us, knowing that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) assured us that any discomfort which the believer endures with patience, be it even the prick of a thorn, is recorded as a good deed with Allaah? Will we receive the glad tidings given to As-Saabireen (the patient ones), ‘Who, when afflicted with a calamity, say “Truly! To Allaah we belong, and truly, to Him we shall return”.’ (Al-Baqarah: 156)?

    Ali ibn Abi Talib, may Allaah be pleased with him, once saw ‘Adiyy ibn Hatim looking sorrowful and so he asked him, “Why are you so sad, O ‘Addiy?” ‘Addiy replied, “How can I not be in such a state, when both of my sons have been killed and my eye gouged out?” So Ali said to him, “O Adiyy, whoever is content with the decree of Allaah will surely experience it and be rewarded for it; and whoever is not content with the Decree of Allaah will surely experience it and Allaah will make his actions worthless.”

    It is narrated on the authority of Anas ibn Malik that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, “When Allaah loves someone then He tests them: as for whoever is content – Allaah will be pleased with him; and as for whoever is discontented – Allaah will be displeased with him.”

    We have read the stories of the Companions and the Prophets; we have admired them for their patience and reliance upon Allaah, with their contentment with whatever Allaah has decreed for them, from the good and the bad. We have read the verse in the Quraan which says, ‘Verily, with every hardship, there comes ease’ (Ash-Sharh: 5).

    We have heard the hadith of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) coming across a woman wailing at a grave of her loved one. He told her to have patience, and she replied ‘It is okay for you to say – you are not standing where I am!’ Later, when she found out who he was, she returned to him and told him she was sorry for speaking to him so, she had not recognised him. He replied, ‘Verily, patience is at the time of the Calamity’. We have heard and read all of these instances, and many more. Let us now implement what we have learned, let us emulate these Muslims we have admired.

    The time will come when the tables will be turned, and those amongst the disbelievers who oppress the Muslims will reap what they sowed. Allaah has said so in the Qur’aan, and this is His promise;
    “Verily! (During the worldly life) the disbelievers (and sinners, evildoers etc) used to laugh at those who believed. And whenever they passed by then, used to wink at one another (in mockery). And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting. And when they saw them. They said: “Verily! These people have indeed gone astray!” Bet they (the disbelievers and sinners) had not been sent as watchers over them (the believers). But this Day (the Day of Resurrection) those who believe will laugh at the disbelievers. On (high) thrones, looking. Are not the disbelievers paid (fully) for what they used to do?” Surah Al-Mutaffifeen: 29 – 36

    We must not lose hope in Allaah, we must not allow our perspective to be warped, we must not lose sight of our goal, we must not forget our purpose in this world. Let the advice of Prophet Yacoub (May Allaah be pleased with him) to his sons be taken as a reminder to us,
    “Never give up hope of Allaah’s Mercy. Certainly no one despairs of Allaah’s Mercy, except the people who disbelieve.” Surah Yusuf: 87

    We pray that Allaah makes the Muslims victorious over the Kuffaar, that He eases the sufferings of all the Muslims, and that He exposes the hypocrisy and lies of those who plot against Islaam. Ameen.

    Wassalaamu alaikum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuhu

    And we ask Allaah, the Noble Lord of the Great Throne, that He is the Protector of the Believers in this world and the Hereafter, and He increases us in goodness wherever we are, and that He makes us from those (people) that when given, we are thankful and when tested, we are patient and when we sin we are repentful. Ameen.

    Indeed, All praise is due to Allaah Lord of the Worlds.
