I read the Quran once in arabic, then nearly finished reading it once more in arabic....... then stopped, and started re-reading it in Arabic, with the English translation there too this time.

And as for namaaz, I know the exact meaning of 80% of what i say, and I know the gist of the rest of it too.....
Muslims are so good at dividing that they can divide the atom. If you see two Muslims, probably they belong to 3 parties.

                Insaaniat,

                don't conclude the results yet
Alhamdolillah I have read Quran with Urdu translation more than once. And I know prayer (Salat) with translation (but when reciting a sura I may not necessarily be able recall all of its meaning).

Mr Tariq786USA, you can buy a CD from www.Soundvision.com, which will have Quran with Translation, all of Sihah sitta (the Six Sahih compilations of Hadith) for about 85-90$.

...... but it helps if you do....

You should at least once read a translation of everything you say during namaaz... that way, when you pray, you at least have a vague idea of what you're saying to Allah...

                      More replies.....wow...... thanks guys

Abdul Basit why you are saying you don稚 need to know?? I think it is good if you know translation because you know what are saying in Prayers. Otherwise just reciting the Quran and not understanding will be no good. It is for our oen benefit.

Insaniyaat and Mad Science(like that name):

What I meant was that you don't need to know IF i read it with Translation or not or how many times I read it.

Off course it is good to KNOW what you are reading, specially when that language is alien to you and you need help understanding it.

No, but i do listen to tafseer separately !!!

                            2-Know Namaz (Salaat) with translation.
ummm..... only Surah Fatiha and Surah Ikhlas. Besides Tasbeeh Rukooh and Tasbeeh Sijda's very easy to understand.. so no need to translate tht But i do know the meaning.. its jst tht its easier in Arabic rather than translating everything in Urdu

                              Asan Quran

This site has Quran translated in URDU.
Actually its Arabic on the Right and Urdu on the Left.
