victorian or islamic morality?

So I have noticed that there is a lot of pushback and resistance from many religious muslims [both men and women ] against multiple marriages for men

makes me wonder whether we follow islamic morality in this respect or a victorian pseudoislamic model?

There are many more moralities and just not the two you mentioned, most muslims do not agree on what might be the Muslim morality.They are whipping women in Afghanistan for a bit of hair showing but ignore child molestations SMH. In my opinion the only thing required to be a Muslim is the Kalima and after that one should behave with humility and kindness, some rules were valid for certain times, wars and defence required manpower as opposed to mukka, dichha, takar, chakhoo, talwaar, dandaa we now have automated weapons and dont need rapid breeding to conquer infidels, also women were dependent on males. In todays world men are becoming redundant as most professions dont require physical strength and women are better socialiser. In my opinion as per my understanding of Quran men had superiority as they were providers, now that women can make their own monies and have better skills they should be considered the dominant gender. In west women are byfar the dominant gender. I treat both my beautiful wealthy wives with deference.

If anything population control is now required for welfare of Ummah.

I would like to ask the same question about slavery and concubines , why do muslims of today and esp women [hijabis included] find it so repulsive

while hypocrite pseudoscholars are writing books [like johnathan brown] distort its image and to justify it

So true, I personally don’t box myself in any religious or cultural identity and pick and choose from any and all. West has many good principles but they subscribe to individualistic culture but evolving from Apes our DNA is group and social culture built in and this leads to many issues
I like the family focus on east but I like the fact in west where individuals are required to bear consequences of their actions, regardless of relationships

Historically speaking, monogamy has never existed in human societies. Societies with absolute prohibitions are a historical anomaly, not the norm.

2- More important thing is, since it is outlawed in the countries where these people live, therefore, considering its benefits only increases cognitive dissonance so why support something one couldn’t benefit from anyway.

3- Many men in a position to get a second wife find it much easier to divorce their first wife so they are not bothered by her later on.

In my opinion, FWIW, the real choice is never between monogamy and polygamy, rather it is between marriage and extramarital relations. We all know of men who are married and develop mutual interest with another woman. Countries where polygamy is outlawed, there is no option for those men but to divorce the first wife to be able to marry again. Or continue onward forming extramarital relations.

The institute of polygamy was established to limit the number of women a man could marry, Arab men used to marry countless women befir Islam. Islam established regulated this institue with laws of Ehsaan and spirit of Taqwa. I am not polygamous and don't intend to be but I respect this institution and so does the women in my family who aren't oppressed women but are Alhamdulilah well accomplished in their lives:

Unfortunately we are all to blame, we let the Jahil, Vile, Barbaric paedophiles hijack our religion, religion is not to be taken literally but in what the spirit of guidence was. The spirit should be kindness, goodness, empathy and caring and above all fairness. Islam needed rapid population growth in those times but not anymore.
