    Favorite quotes regarding religion...

Ok, here I go, my very 1st thread in this forum..The idea is that here you can post your favorite quotes from any media in regards to religion.

By religion, I mean ANY religion....

Please remain civil in regards to what you post and be considerate about others feelings & belief. I have BigBrother waiting in my background with a dump truck full of "chittroll" if this thread gets out of hand.

    Anyway, here's my quote...

Sometimes when I pray, it feels like God is all around me - so close, that when I'm done, I almost hate to say amen... Saying amen - in a way, that's almost like ending a call...like hanging up, you know? It feels like God just evaporates out of the room. So that made me think...wouldn't it be great if we could leave a prayer off the hook? Just leave it off the hook forever. Then whenever we stopped to listen, God would be right there breathing.

A question that sometimes drives me hazy: am I or are the others crazy?

Albert Einstein: "...science without religion is lame; religion without science is blind."

Thomas Jefferson: In a letter to Baron von Humboldt, 1813: "History I believe furnishes no example of a priest-ridden people maintaining a free civil government. This marks the lowest grade of ignorance, of which their political as well as religious leaders will always avail themselves for their own purpose."

Charles Kimball: Whatever religious people may say about their love of God or the mandates of their religion, when their behavior toward others is violent and destructive, when it causes suffering among their neighbors, you can be sure the religion has been corrupted and reform is desperately needed."

It's better to stay quite and give the impression that you're stupid than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

The more I study religions the more I am convinced that man never worshipped anything but himself.

I believe it was Hasan al Basri or someone else in the past who more or less said the following when someone tried to argue with him over religion:

'I have found my religion, go look for yours'.

I don't remember the exact words.

What do you think, God tortures Muslims in Islamic hell, no Sir, Islamic hell is made for torturing Jews and Christians, whereas Muslims are tortured in Jews and Christian hells, said Milorad Pavich.
