    All Electronics Engineers report here....

I was wondering how many electronics engineers are signed in here... post your details
.. may be we could share our experiences.
    here is mine

    BE Instrumentation IIEE, NED University.

worked in NRDA for four years then

PhD University of Surrey UK research topic "noise reduction in audible band using unconventional techniques" (part Time, will finish next year Insha Allah)
A question that sometimes drives me hazy: am I or are the others crazy?

I just started me bachelors at NED in Telecommunication Engineering (its just the second batch). While looking at the syllabus I could see that for the first three years all the courses are from Electrical and electronics and only in the last year they introduce Telecomm courses. Is it the same as they have in some foreign universities where they have certain electives in the last year? People have been telling me that its not advisable to have a specialised course at Bachelor's level, what do you think?

Hmm... I think thats the way it supposed to be, You can't jump to the learning communication techniques unless you have a strong base of electronics, ie how things behaive under different circumtances... and thats exactly what you learn in early years, like you can't understand RF communication unless you know how transistors and other passive components will behaiv under different bias... In NED, I suppose in your technology, 1st year is very much about very basics of electronics, as we don't study them during HSC or A levels, and when it comes to communication you should a very good understanding and know how of basics.. where all these basic courses comes in.

But do you think that the name of the degree can be a bit misleading? I mean what we are doing is essentially the same as what a student of electrical or electronics engineering at a foreign uni might be doing who has taken up telecomm topics as last year electives (and his degree is still called Electrical or electronics engineering) aint it? And can a BE in Telecom fill up the vacancy of an electronic engineer?

well answer to this is in your reply, as in pakistan you don't have the liberty to choos your elective subjects, what choice you have left?? If you want to make your carear in Telecomm, the only option you have left is to choos telecomm engineering... Mind it courses in IIEE, DAwood, Sir Syed, MEhran and GiKI are very much different from each other..
