Pakistani politicos every now and then come up with this gem, which either make you laugh (because they are so funny) or cry (because they are so true or so offensive!). Case in point( i have pasted the speech below the link):
Nasrullah as COAS!
By Our Staff Reporter
LAHORE—PML (N) Parliamentary party leader Rana Sanaullah Khan, in a light mood on Friday suggested that veteran politician Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan should be appointed as Chief of Army Staff in the same manner as retired armymen are inducted in high civilian places.
This he said in response to a retired armyman-turned- PML(Q) MPA’s comments in Punjab Assembly session while opening debate on ‘The Punjab Marriage Functions (Prohibition of Ostentatious Displays and Wasteful Expenses) Bill, 2003.
He was criticising former Chairman National Reconstruction Bureau Gen (Retd) Tanveer Hussain Naqvi for his contribution in introducing controversial Local Bodies system.
He said Gen Naqvi had never contested election nor he had knowledge of ground realities and gave us a hotchpotch, Local Bodies system.
Mr Speaker, Sir, brainwashing is the integral part of the military training. Once someone gets commission in the army one undergoes a series of brainwash—courses and such military engines keeps churning out a whole lot of brainless stuff. But perhaps it is still more unfortunate that once they retire they opt for politics. This is unfair; this is discriminatory. The only way to put an end to this discrimination is through fixing a quota in the army for retired politicians; come on, let’s start with Nawabzada Nasrullah’s appointment as Chief of the Army Staff and see how he takes up the challenge.
