Damn, i was hoping that all Powel gonna do was a speech. he got pretty solid proofs.

i have't heard his speech, just read it, people are listening it on MSNBC, but i can't find the damn link.

Lies and Deception, Iraq has failed a diplomatic solution.
Powell showed that Iraq has no intention of coming clean to the UN and is continuing it's WMD program in hiding. The question is no longer if but when the coalition ends Saddam’s regime.

These will only be statements that have been prepared before Powell spoke,any further reactions will only come after the foriegn ministers confer with their relevant leaders and parliments.

A proper course of action would be to provide this evidence to inspectors on the ground and see if they are allowed unfettered access to these 'secret' sites.... unless of course it's footage from the Arizona desert.

my question is that how do we know that those images are actually from the time frame when the inspector were suppose to visit those sites and not from some other time?

did he say anything about that? just wondering

My guess is that the French will cave in and the UN will back the war. It always has in the past and let's not forget the UN got told to bugger off by Israel yet still went crawling on it's belly to make things up.

I wonder what happened to the col. in the first conversation the next day when the Gen.went to see him,after he said "by god i do have a modified vehicle"that had come from Al Kindra,which is a ballistic missile factory,i believe.The gen. did not sound happy at all.I wonder if the col. is still alive and free.

I have just seen on Sky news,after Powells statement, an immediate poll which shows 79% think saddam guilty,21% not guilty.

Powell made a truly compelling case and argument that leaves neither Saddam nor the UN Security Council any "wiggle room." It wouldn't surprise me to see Hans Blix in his next report reference the US intelligence and tell the Security Council that it is, indeed, impossible for his team of inspectors to adequately perform the task they were charged with given the actions of Iraq. Further, with the evidence provided by Powell, it is at least a very real possibility that a majority of the UN Security Council will support military action AND that no permanent member will cast a veto. France and China can save a little face by voicing opposition but then abstaining so as not to "frustrate" the will of the Council.

I heard Powell from start to finish and found myself chilled to the bone by the revelations.

Powell also showed the reasons why the inspectors ARE NOT finding anything, and how futile the current inspection arrangement is if Saddam does not want things found.

Undoubtedly Saddam will offer some compliance, such as the U-2 flights, or interviewing scientists. Thus Saddam will try to buy time by doing what he should have been doing all along.

The next set of inspectors will be the V Corps, the 101st Airborne, the 3rd infantry etc. etc. etc.

OG: I think Saddam will scramble to TRY to figure out a way to buy some more time. The beauty of Powell's presentation though is that I just don't see where there is room for Saddam to wiggle. What is he supposed to do? Will he say, "OK guys. You caught us. Here are 10 of the mobile WMD labs that we have. We destroyed the other 8." Or will he say, "Here's our 18 mobile labs. That's all we had. We lied about that but we really don't have any anthrax."

The French, Chinese and others might still stake out a positon that they are opposed to a military solution. I don't see how they can save any political face whatsoever stating a belief that Saddam has complied with UN Resolutions, is cooperating with UN inspectors, and/or is likely to change his behaviour such that the UN inspectors could ever certify that Iraq has disarmed and purged itself of WMD. U2 flights and scientist interviews simply are not enough.

There are a variety of possible moves to make from this point on. However, they all lead to checkmate. The only question is whether it is Mate in 2 or Mate in 5.

If you recall, just before the State of the Union, I was disturbed that the Administration had not done enough to prepare us for war nor did I believe they had shared enough information and evidence with either the American people or the world. I am now absolutely satisfied.
