    Chicago: Pakistani Americans have made significant and enduring contributions to the cultural and civic life of our communities, said U.S. President George W Bush in his written statement to Pakistani American Association of North America PAANA.

    He said I commend PAANA members and supporters for your efforts on behalf of the people of Pakistan, as well as Pakistani Americans. Your commitment to improving education, health, and economic development provides hope for a brighter future for both our Nations

    "The United State is richly blessed by the diversity of its people. From the arts and education to industry and science,"
    concluded Bush.

    The three day "PAANA Leadership Conference 2002" was held in Chicago, USA. Over 40 Organizations from all corners of America and Canada attended this historic summit of Pakistani Organizations. PAANA Chairman Shaukat M. Sindhu, Stressed on unity among each other and asked the young generation to join the American political and media fields.

    (PAANA), the largest organization of Pakistanis living in the United States and Canada, successfully united Pakistani leaders from across the globe this year for it's annual Leadership Conference 2002.

    "We have achieved our goal of starting a journey towards uniting Pakistanis all over America and Canada to work together for their betterment here and also to work to gather for the betterment of Pakistan and Pakistanis living in Pakistan", said Shaukat M. Sindhu, Chairman PAANA. Sindhu further said "we are very pleased with the turnout of dignitaries & delegates of Pakistani organizations from all over Pakistan and Canada".

    US Congressman Henry Hyde, Chairman House Foreign Relations Committee was the Chief Guest and Pakistani Ambassador to America Dr. Maleeha Lodhi was the key note speaker at this historic event of the new millennium.

    Event was flooded with American Politicians and American Dignitaries and in recognition of continuous support to Pakistan as an important allay of the United States and balanced approach for a peaceful resolution to the security issues facing south east Asia today , Ambassador Maleeha Lodhi, awarded the PAANA 2002 Friendship Awards to Richard M. Daley, Mayor, City of Chicago, Congressman Henry J. Hyde Chairman, House Foreign Relations Committee , Congressman David Bonior, ,Congressman Danny Davis ,Congressman Jim Moody ,Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky ,Rodney W. Jones, President, Policy Architects International, Washington, DC ,Ambassador Dennis Kux, Honorable Jesse White, Illinois Secretary of State ,Honorable Jim Ryan, Attorney General of Illinois ,Honorable Judith Rice, Treasurer, City of Chicago ,Honorable Denial T. Burke, State Representative, State of Illinois ,Alderman Joseph Moore, City of Chicago

    Room was full with the Pakistani leaders and dignitaries including;

    Chairman Henry Hyde, Ambassador Maleeha Lodhi, Shaukat Sindhu and PAANA Vice Chairman Moghees Adil awarded the PAANA 2002 Community Service Awards to Dr. Rafiq Jan, Chairman, Jan Foundation, Inc. in recognition of his on going commitment to reduce blindness and conducting the free eye care camps for the underprivileged of Pakistan. To Mohsin Zaheer, Editor Daily Sada-e-Pakistan, and Bureau Chief daily Khabrain, for his sincere efforts to help fellow Pakistanis in the aftermath of September 11, 2002 . Artists of the year award to film Star Meera.and award to Prime TV.

    Dr. Maleeha Lodhi, Ambassador of Pakistan to USA, was awarded PAANA's Golden Eagle Award , on her outstanding leadership & courageous performance in improving Pakistan's image through difficult times. (SANA)

      Bush message to pakistani americans what a joke praises them now does he hmmmm before they called terrorists and handcuffed beaten and thrown in jail without charge!

      Mosques attacked women being spat upon having there hijabs yanked off!

      god bless america i don't think so may god destory america as he did the previous arrogant nations!

                just2much, probably..the ottoman empire had its downfall for many of the same reasons as other great powers had fallen. It would be wise of us to not make the same mistakes.
