    Indian Carving Knives

    Hindu carving knives are out

The writer is a well known journalist

    [email protected]

There is no dearth of expert analysts, however. Brought up mostly on a diet of Indian statements and periodic pious declarations, they thrash about in shoals of ignorance, cocksure and assertive. All manner of weird panaceas and fanciful compromises flow from their prolix pens. Adopt Pakistan first policy, forget Kashmir is one prize exhibit. Remove the provocation and the Lalajis would leave us alone.

It looks pretty neat in print and original. There is just one small flaw. It is oblivious of Indian ruling elite's mindset and barely concealed agenda. You can ditch the Kashmiris, yes, but it won't buy you any relief, much less safety. For Delhi Kashmir is a nuisance, and it can remove the irritant at any time. All it needs to do is to let the Kashmiris exercise the autonomy already conceded in the Indian Constitution. No, in Delhi's book, there is only one problem: Pakistan. Its very existence is taken as an insult to Mother India.

Gird up for a 1000 year battle that Bhutto called for!! The rest of the article is pretty good too.

He rehashed a lot of old attitudes.
1.Indians long ago accepted partition. They just wish Paks would leave Kashmir alone.

2.Indians right thinking ones atleast, see creation of Pakistan as good riddance. Imagine, it would have been India facing the Afghan problem and all the drugs and violence!! And I don't think Afghans would have changed one bit whoever their neighbour is !!

3.Ofcourse 'Brahminical' attttudes. Pleeze. Brahmin power is long gone!!

let us consider, for the sake of debate, that indians are still disturbed by pak. they should be equally disturbed by bangladesh which is an economy of roughly pak size and has a rabindro song as national anthem. bangladesh does not spend even 1/100th of what pak does on defence. does anyone think that india has plans to swallow BD. it is a realistic aim. but nope, none wants 140 million more muslims coming legally spreading all over.

same logic goes for pak. given that pak has nukes and missiles that will go all the way to burma and further makes such a possibility wholly unrealistic.

but if someone whose livelihood depends on indo-pak rivalry will try to keep it alive by fake fears.

A typical Hindu sees the creation of Pakistan as an embarrasment. On the other hand, no diginified Muslim with some self-respect can live under the rule of Hindu leaders. When partition became eminent, Nehru used his lover (the viceroy Mountbatten) to advance the date of partition, hoping they would succeed in creating a country that has nothing (which is why mounty gave it no military arsenals, the money that was to be divided etc) and hoping the country would collapse and merge with India. When this did not happen, they attacked Pakistan in 1965 in a bid to takeover the country. Hence, being anti-Pakistani is in the very roots of these dirty Hindus.

As for Bangladesh not having a military as good as Pakistan... They do not have a 50 year old border dispute with India... Pakistan would not have spent to so much on its defence had there been no Kashmir despute... Quoting Bangladesh as an example is a poor stand... Pakistan has had problems only with India and no other neighbour, whereas India continues to mingle in the affairs of Pakistan, Nepa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Burma etc Oh yes, and in 1962 it got its sorry ass kicked so hard by China too!

so the issue is kashmir teritory that pak wants to get. on the other hand, article says that india wants to take over pak even if it forgets kashmir.
