President Musharraf off to China this week.

Another great diplomatic move by the President. We must continue to build our economic and military ties with Great China, and co-ordinate with them diplomatically.

Pakistan president to visit China amid border tension with India

    (Updated at 1650 PST)

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf is to leave for Beijing on Thursday for talks with Chinese leaders on border tensions with India, a foreign ministry official said on Tuesday.

According to details, "the President Musharraf will hold talks with Chinese Prime Minister Zhu Rongji on Thursday that will focus on bilateral relations as well as on tension between Pakistan and India. He will also attend a banquet being hosted by the Chinese premier for him at the Great Hall," the official said on condition of anonymity.

After an overnight stay in China he will fly to Kathmandu on Friday morning to attend a summit of the seven-nation South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC).

Work started on Gawadar port and Sandak land mine project. Chinese engineers are already working with Pakistanis on several other projects. I think President should now concentrate on our economy and lets hope we never see BB+NS+Mr.10 percent again.

That's fantastic news for Pak-China economic cooperation, and will bring great benefits for our national infrastructure. Apart from Gwadur and Saindak I read there are numerous other projects in Pakistan that China will be pumping hundreds of millions of investment into.

As China is going to be a leading economic player in the forseeable future, it is good that we are cementing close ties with them.

India should take a leaf out of China's book and crack down hard on the hardline Hindutvans who threaten peace in their own country and the rest of the region in particular.

Inshallah. The fact that the Chinese leadership will be holding a State Banquet in the Great Hall for President Musharraf testifies to the importance they attach to relations with Pakistan. No doubt more economic and infrastructure projects like the one's mentioned in Abdali's list will be signed.

Another shot in the foot for India. Our planes now not only fly over China instead of India, but pick up signed deals as well on the way to their destination.

                            LOL.

In fact I just read that President Musharraf will now attend the SAARC summit in Nepal and arrive there by a special Chinese plane. The Chinese Air Force will provide full protocol and security to President Musharraf's plane. That is a sure sign of the increasingly closer relations between Great China and Pakistan.
