Violence looms in Afghan refugee camps in Pakistan

A Pakistani fundamentalist party has threatened to attack Afghan refugees hailing from Northern Alliance areas if the anti-Taleban forces execute Pakistanis holed up in the besieged Kunduz city along with Taleban militiamen.

The Tehrik-e-Nifaz-e-Shariat-e-Mohammedi (TNSM) had mobilised thousands of Pakistani volunteers to fight against US-led forces in Afghanistan.

TNSM adopted the strident posture in the wake of severe criticism for whipping up pro-Taleban frenzy during the past two months.

Hundreds of Pakistani recruits are believed to have been abandoned in Afghanistan following advances by the Northern Alliance.

TNSM leader Maulvi Muhammed Khalid Khan told reporters in Pakistan's North Western Frontier Province that people were angry and they could target the refugees living in different camps in the province.

A 15-member delegation of prominent persons reportedly went to Afghanistan on Friday to meet Northern Alliance leaders, including Uzbek warlord Abdul Rashid Dostam, to negotiate the surrender of Pakistanis encircled in Kunduz.

Resentment runs high among the relatives of the volunteers against the Islamic outfits as the Pakistanis were left in the lurch by the Taleban and the Al Qaeda terrorist network militiamen while withdrawing from Mazar-e-Sharif and Kabul, exposing them to attacks from the Northern Alliance and US aerial bombing

This is a major concern for the Government. They are now trying to disarm the camps.

Is there no one to stuff ten foot poles up these Mullahs and shove them over the border?
