Pakistan seeks hi-tech cooperation with Israel
    By Buzzy Gordon

August 28, 18:00 -- Tel Aviv-based Matimop, the government-linked research and development center for Israeli industry, announced that it has received its first request for hi-tech cooperation from Pakistan, a Muslim country that does
not have diplomatic relations with Israel.

According to Matimop managing director Yair Amitay, there are a number of countries seeking technological collaboration with Israel who do not maintain diplomatic relations with this country, including Malaysia and Indonesia. He also stressed that a large number of inquiries come from India, although most originate from the US, Europe and Japan.

So now Pakistan wants to do business with Israel. Is this Halaal ?? So what is the problem with doing business with India ?

    Zara Soocho????

Israel don't make any weapons except its a conduit for American hardware. In order to sell they must get a green signal from Washington. Don't forget the Phalcon deal with India.

As long as we are cooperating with China there is no chance we will get any toys from US and we perfer it that way. We'd rather have 10 Chinese J-10's then one American F22.

              Assalam alaiakam

Since Pakistan is a puppet of america it needs permission from its Ruler the United states to do anything. I don't find it a shock at all that it is allegedly doing business with the little shaitan israel.
Pakistan is no different than the other so called muslims regimes like saudi, iran or turkey when it comes to benefit islam takes a backseat always.

During the 1850's Indian rebellion against the British, many Hindus and Muslims sided with the British for personal gain. Koi nai baat nahi huzoor. Dont be surprised.

If this is right, then it is a good news. Pakistan needs to find allies (through trade and diplomacy). It has been abandoned like a hot potato (or like a used Condom, as someone mentioned) by America, and by the speed it is going, it will soon loose respect by the Arab Muslims. It still cannot decide whether to side with Kuwait or Iraq (tough choice, indeed). It will be in Pakistanís interest to open full ties with Israel (like Turkey, etc.) and not worry about the camel dung, i.e., Gulf Shiekhs. They are good for nothing!

I remmember reading a while back that Pakistan was indeed seeking co-operation with Israel in telecommunication field. Although, I still question the authenticity of this news. Why is it surfacing at the height of Intifada, and in the newspaper run by Ultra Orthodox jews.

Pakistan should not go ahead with any kind of business deals with Israel. It would mean abandoning the Palestinean cause. The relations between Pakistan and Arab countries are just fine, contrary to what NYA is suggesting. Only a week ago, Kuwait extended a soft-term loan of $300 million for infrastructure development. Arab countries have pledged a total grant package of $1 billion for Vision 2025 and Gwadar port over the next year.

Pakistan should formally recognize Israel and establish full diplomatic relations. Its long over due and delay has not helped Pakistan in any way. Regarding shiekhs, first thing Palistan needs to do is to shut down prostitution centers in clifton, kamari and defense.

Abdulla, Pakistan deals with the US, and everyone jumps up and down about how Israel is a US baby? Are you suggesting that Pakistan should completely cut itself off from the US and from the rest of the world? It also deals with China (a country that has worse than Israeliís record of human rights of Muslims and Tibetans), it deals with Russia (even after the fact that Russia has an open season on itís own Muslim minority, and not to mention what it is doing to Chechens). I donít think that by getting closer to Israel will necessarily mean abandoning support of the Palestinian cause. Both countries (Egypt and Jordan) that have more interest in that region are on good terms with Israel (or a fairly good terms, in retrospect), why is that Pakistan feels that it is a bigger Uncle to Palestinians than other countries? My taking on this is that if Saudi Arabia tomorrow decides to recognize Israel and open full Diplomatic relations, Pakistan will do so about 6 minutes after that.

Opening diplomatic relations with illegitemate child of US means pissing of some Arab countries big time. Lets take the example of Saudia Arabia do you guys know how much oil we get from Saudia on defered payments or as a grant?

This news sounds like full of it. Regardless, we are not serving US inetrest so it won't make much difference. US already has a new condom in the region a used second hand condom. So sit tight and just watch the show such news items are not out of the ordinary.
A Paki getting caught trying to smuggle 500 odd stingers from US specialy when Paki minister is in US is quite common. Even more common is the disappearence of the accused along with the merchandise into thin air once the minister is gone.

                          Get use to it.....

Its very likely a Europe/US based company owned by Pakistanis who are involved in this, if at all there is one.
Its virtually impossible for Pakistan-based company to get into such a collaboration with Israel in the absence of diplomatic relations. If its at a government level, the public uprising would be too severely against it. If its at the private level, it could very well result in treason like charges.

This news item, like Abdullah suggested, is very likely floated with an intention to create a stir among muslim countries, and perhaps scramble the support for Palestine.
