Funds sanctioned for fan development institute
    RECORDER REPORT
.......KARACHI : The Ministry of Commerce has sanctioned release of funds for the Fan Development Institute, Gujrat. The Pakistan Electric Fan Manufacturers Association (Pefma) had asked for additional funds of Rs 57 million from the Export Promotion Bureau. Muhammad Ilyas, Pefma Chairman, in a letter to Iftikhar Ali Malik, President, Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry, has thanked him for pleading their case for additional funds at the Export Development Fund meeting held recently in Islamabad.
......."But for your forceful pleading our case," it would not have been possible to achieve the desired target," he said.
.......The Fan Development Institute is being funded by the Export Promotion Bureau. Initially a sum of Rs 9 million was released in 1996 out of which land was purchased and building of the institute has been constructed.
.......The institute would facilitate the manufacturers in testing their fans at reasonable charges, provide facilities of material testing, would be equipped with a display centre to introduce latest types of fans in international markets for the local entrepreneur to match their products.
.......It would provide technical training to existing manpower as well as train new entrants in the field of fan industry, and produce various components for sale. This will help the small size manufacturers in getting standard components for their products. The institute would cater to the training needs of adjoining areas both at supervisory and worker level. This will also help in the development of educational/technological level to a certain degree of the nearby areas. It would not only provide technical knowledge to the workers but will also provide required knowledge in production management, material control, management of organisations, marketing and other related courses for better performance of manpower.
.......Although the institute is not yet affiliated with any institute of higher learning like engineering university/technical board, but would be affiliated with Federal Technical Board after the lab/workshops are set.
