    ISLAMABAD: An extraordinary brilliant Pakistani student, Taqi Jafri, who
    hit super wins throughout his excellent star-studded academic career,
    has secured the highest marks in the whole world in the 'A' Level Physics
    Examination held by London University.

    "I have obtained the first position in the entire world due to the prayers
    of my parents and efforts of my teachers," said 18-year-old Jafri, who is
    doing his under-graduation at the Franklin and Marshall College in the US
    State of Pennsylvania after he got the most prestigious Pakistan
    President Scholarship to study Physics in the United States.

    "I am particularly proud of the fact that this honour was clinched by a
    Pakistani student, who elevated high the name of Pakistan in the entire
    world," said Jafri, a (former) student of Froebel's International School,
    Islamabad. Highly inspired by the personalities of Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan
    and Dr Abdullah Sadiq, Jafri said: "I want to become an engineer make
    name in the field of Physics." "I love my country and I want to bring
    laurels to it," said Jafri, who appeared in the 'A' level examination in June
    2000. Its results have just been announced.

    By securing 9,542 marks, he stood first the world over. He will receive a
    meritorious award by The British Council in a ceremony scheduled for
    February 19. Jafri had been a student of the Beaconhouse School
    Systems till the sixth grade. He passed class seventh from the Saint
    Mary School and for class eighth, he took admission in the Cadet
    College, Hassanabdal.

    From the Cadet College, Hassanabdal, he appeared in the 'O' Level
    Examination and secured one of the most outstanding eight As. In this
    examination, he clinched the first positions in the subjects of Physics
    and Chemistry in entire Asia. By maintaining one of the most meritorious
    track record he obtained the Presidential Scholarship. He had also
    secured position in a Physics competition organised by PINSTECH at the
    National Library Islamabad. He is also the member of Aero-Modeling Club,
    in the science camp of 'Pakbase-Baraq' 1996. He also obtained a top

    president of Pakistan Social Association and earned a good name in the
    social work and that was why he had named a website
    designed five years ago. Answering a query, he said that he played
    basketball in the college in the United States.

    To a question about any effect of the western influence on him, Jafri
    said he offers prayers regularly. He had also observed all fasts in the
    outgoing Ramazan, he added. Following the outstanding result, Chief
    Executive General Pervez Musharraf invited him along his parents to the
    Army House, which, according to him, had greatly encouraged him.
