    The fate of P.I.A

Whatever happened to Pakistan International Airlines? A short while back, the airlines was supposedly on the verge to bankruptcy. Used to be a great airline during the 50's and 60's and especially during the time of Noor Khan. The airline is also suffering from an ageing fleet of aircraft!
See http://historyofpia.tripod.com to learn about Pakistan's national carrier.

but ppl still prefer not to use PIA unless they have no other choice....
Other reasons are large number of freebies, corruption, overstaffing, and non-profit destionations....of these only last cannot be done away with as it a necessity..but a good administrator can surely take care of the rest......

The first airline in the world to operate scheduled helicopter services.

The first airline in Asia to show in-flight movies on international routes.

PIA set up Pakistanís first planetarium at Karachi and later at Lahore.

The first airline in South Asia to introduce auto-ticketing facility.

Not really, the 30 million is total profits for PIA.
That is 30 million dollars after taxes and fixed and variable costs for the Roosevelt.
That is alot of money pukka.
PIA might be in a tight fix now.
But in 5 years, they will have a new fleet and everything.
But true there is no much over staffing and stuff.
But this will be remedied by CE.
He has already cut the workforce in PIA by 20%.

I'll take CM's word that PIA made a profit,; It should use that opportunity to privatize the company.
Wasn't there plans to privatize PIA?
