Either I’m high on something or this article not only has a friendly message it also has a positive tone

I think it’s important that neither country underestimates each other’s ’power’ and doesn’t step on each other’s ego – we’re equally bad when it comes to that.

If Indo-Pak relations can be improved without any third party’s involvement it could be one major positive step – as neither will be ehsanmand to others nor will they have to compromise on issues that doesn’t concern either country. We have proved that we need some third party lekin times change.

I hope this was not a diplomatic statement, and he really meant this – hopefully Pak will respond to this.

While not down playing the 'significance' of Advani's call for peace with Pakistan, one should note the CONTEXT in which he made these remarks, AND what peace he may be looking at? AND under what external pressure?

      1) Quote from an article from The Khaleej Times):-

"Mr Advani referred to to the joint statement by Deendayal Upadhayay and Ram Manohar Lohia of their concept of the two-nation confederation and said what the two leaders had envisioned could be a reality some day. This is what the erstwhile Jana Sangh used to talk about Akhand Bharat..." !

      2) And because the Americans have asked the Indian's to resume talks:-

      3) AND despite denials by the USA that it is secretly sponsoring back-channel mediation, more reports of mediation aefforts and mediators is continuing:-

Hence Advani's statement on peace with Pakistan has been made in front of 'Akhnad Bharat' devotees , AND under concerted American pressure..
