Breaking News....One thousand people will be out of work as from tomorrow, says Gen.

What an action man this 'victor of Kargil' is!

Chief Executive General Musharraf announced on Thursday that there would be major job losses at the Central Board of Revenue, the key tax-collecting authority, and other civil service areas because of inefficiency and corruption. "One thousand people will be out of work as from tomorrow. They are corrupt and inefficient and are plundering the wealth of Pakistan," he said.

He pledged that the poor would not be affected. "No poor man will pay tax. But anybody who has more than what he eats, why doesn't he want to pay tax?" Musharraf said.

Will they be able to find work? Can someone answer this. Is the Pak economy creating enough jobs?

Yes, they can get jobs if they correct themselves. But for some people, its hard to get rid of bad habits.

In any economy, jobs can be created provided we have good planning and funds. As we don't have the 2 top selling commodities(oil & coffee), so we must carry out tax reforms for all sorts of projects' fundings.

Corrupt should be eliminated from not only CBR but from Army and courts as well.

Still this is a good decision.

Why should one care about their jobs, if they never care about the country, their families are also responsible for their corruption. Some might not hurt coz of their too much haram earning. So Government if considers them as corrupt, then should get money back through fines.

Is it very hard to determine from where the money is coming to these people, no...I think there should be no fines, there should be special courts like ATC for corruption. The laws should be such that the accused should have the burden of proving his innocence, if they can not satisfy then their assets should be fortified.

And ....they should start from the top....my be top brass first

Have they proved that those being fired were robbers & bandits stealing the country dry? Or, they are just accusations?

If the Govt. wants to downsize the ministries then it should do so in the spirit of reform and, not by putting 'dhabba' on one's character making it next to impossible for them to find future employment.

After calling them thieves - who will hire them, Mr Musharaff?

Do you think it will be difficult to prove, now that justice is CE's kathputli (as recently proved by the Supreme Court of Pakistan). Given three years time to him thus legitimising his taking over (what justice). As if they will put him behind the bars if he does not return the country to democracy within three years. What a joke.
