PM's dash aimed at patch-up with Bhutto?

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's unexpected air-dash to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) was primarily aimed at cutting a deal with his implacable political foe Benazir Bhutto through the Emirati ruling family, a competent source disclosed on Monday.
Talking to The Frontier Post on telephone from Lahore, the source claimed that the prime minister, disturbed by the current storm of country-wide protests by the resurgent opposition, had flown to Abu Dhabi to "activate his UAE connection for patch-up with the opposition leader." Approached for comments, Principal Information Officer (PIO) Saleem Gul, however, rejected the claim as untrue, saying that the prime minister had been to Abu Dhabi to inquire after the ailing President Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan al-Nahyan.

"Since the UAE president enjoys tremendous clout with PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto, Nawaz Sharif is trying to use his Abu Dhabi connection for striking the deal with his principal political adversary," the source insisted while referring to the day-long trip that came amid a deepening political crisis in the country.

A senior Lahore-based journalist is said to have advised Nawaz Sharif to embark on the UAE mission if he was really serious about wooing the highly embittered Benazir Bhutto. "The prime minister liked the idea and left for Abu Dhabi," the source concluded.

Yet another example of the hypocricsy and bankruptcy of our politicians. I wonder what the "most honest person" in Pakistan i.e. Senator Saif ur Rehman thinks about it.
