The shedding of Muslim blood is allowed in order to keep Jihad going

    Agree or Disagree?

Purported al-Zarqawi message justifies civilian deaths

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- A chilling, rambling audio file thought to be from the most-wanted man in Iraq, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, says religious doctrine justifies the killing of innocent Muslims by insurgents.

The message was posted on several Islamist Web sites Wednesday, the same day a senior U.S. military official said the Jordanian-born leader of al Qaeda in Iraq ordered the recent wave of car bombings in which more than 400 people were killed.

The audio -- in which al-Zarqawi is introduced but the speaker does not identify himself -- appeared during a slight lull in violence after three weeks of ferocious attacks.

CNNArabic.com's Caroline Faraj, who monitors militant Web sites, said the voice sounded like al-Zarqawi's.

On the audio, the speaker says in Arabic: "The shedding of Muslim blood ... is allowed in order to avoid the greater evil of disrupting jihad."

The speaker defends suicide attacks, saying, "killing of infidels by any method including martyrdom operations has been sanctified by many scholars even if it meant killing innocent Muslims."

"This legality has been agreed upon ... so as not to disrupt jihad," the recording says.

The only indication that the 67-minute recording released Wednesday is relatively new is a reference to Pope John Paul II. The voice says there was too much focus on the death of the pontiff in April and not enough on the "torture" of the Sunnis and "raping" of Muslim women in Iraq.

The speaker said the landscape and terrain of Iraq has forced the insurgents to resort to suicide car bombings.

It is "very difficult for us, especially in Baghdad, which led us to increase our martyrs' attacks," a reference to suicide bombings.

Yeah UTD, at least Zarqawi is man enough to believe in what he is doing, unlike other two-faced Mullah who say one thing, and do another.

My guess is that a whole lot of Muslims agree with Zarqawi or the slaughter of innocent Iraqis by his men would be stopped. The Iraqi people have the power to stop this by turning this thug and his merry men in. There are more and more reports of insurgents being ratted out by Iraqi citizens so maybe they have come to the realization that watching their women and children die in the name of Zarqawi's jihad is not worth it.

UTD, there is an even more interesting take on this from the Scotsman:

'Al-Zarqawi Tape' Calls Iraq MPs 'Apostates'

An internet audiotape posted today, purportedly by the leader of al Qaida in Iraq, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, denounced Iraq’s Shiites as collaborators with the Americans and called the country’s rulers “apostates.”

The tape was the first said to be from the Jordanian-born militant since a new, Shiite-dominated government was put in place in early May. In the past weeks, al Qaida in Iraq and other militant groups have wreaked a stepped-up campaign of car bombings, suicide attacks, shootings and kidnappings.

“What Sunnis have suffered and are still suffering from the Shiites is far worse than what they saw from the Americans,” said the speaker on the recording, purported to be al-Zarqawi.

Shiites are “collaborating with the worshippers of the cross,” who invaded Iraq, corrupted the country and violated holy sites, the speaker said. “This is all taking place under of a state of apostasy of the rulers of this nation.”

                  http://news.scotsman.com/latest.cfm?id=4573464

He claims that it's OK to kill because they are "Apostates", and that they are collaborating with "Christians". Sooooo, unless you are a Sunni, then you are essentially fair game in this world.

Re: The shedding of Muslim blood is allowed in order to keep Jihad going

Sadder still is the fact that so many Iraqis and Muslims may be suffering the violence because they simply cannot emotionally make the leap to "be on the side of infidels".

How many deaths will it take at the hands of the fanatics to change the attitude on the "Muslim" street.

Sure you can throw around the reckless 100,000 civilian deaths charge, Abu Grhaib, Gitmo. There is plenty of legitimate and understandable scorn to heaped on the U.S. and its war with Muslim fanatics in Iraq. Lots of mistakes. Too much heartache and death in this as in any conflict.

But what is to be gained by siding with the fanatic killers? What promise do they hold for ordinary Iraqis? This question has been posed since the end of the "major conflict". Does any reasonable person doubt that if the "insurgency" were quelled tomorrow with the help of ordinary Iraqis, that life would get better for them. This conflict brought the end of a tyrant and the beginning of democracy.

If unopposed, what will the U.S. do in Iraq? Kill people or start figuring out how to get the fcuk out.

The fanatics only offer the wonderful feeling a Muslim gets from being a "team player" and opposing the U.S. presence-no matter what the actual consequences are.
That feeling of continued misery and death.

Forget American presence for a moment. Which is a better future for Iraq?
The one with Zarqawi and Co. or one without?

                        Go team.

Storch, your logic would be pretty easy to agree with, but it is based on the assumption that there is just a single enemy, Team Zarqawi.

Much of the reporting outside the US in the past has suggested that whilst Team Zarqawi is claiming credit for the high profile bombings etc, many of the other attacks on Iraqi collaborators and occupying forces are done by independently operating groups that have no collaboration with Zarqawi.

It is possible for groups with noble intentions to be fighting against the same enemy as groups of less noble intent.

For example, the UK fought against Nazi Germany at the same time as a government that killed countless millions of its own people (the USSR) fought against Nazi Germany.

The involvement of the UK in that war in no way meant that people who supported the UK also supported the actions of the USSR - even though both factions were fighting a single common enemy.

Indeed, your attitude is directly comparible with that of many officers in the German Wehrmacht. In his account of his battles on the Eastern Front, the German tank company commander Otto Carius expressed genuine dismay about the USA and the UK's waging of war against German forces in 1945- he expressed the belief that whilst Germany's actions were certainly unjust, the Soviet Union was so much worse than Germany that the UK and USA would have made a better world overall by allying with Germany to crush the USSR once France had been liberated and the German West Front in retreat.

Muslims are so good at dividing that they can divide the atom. If you see two Muslims, probably they belong to 3 parties.

I'm pretty much referring to the bombers of innocent people, children, new govt. officials and police.

If there are groups with noble intentions engaged in this tactic, I'd be curious to hear of their agenda for the welfare of Iraq in the event that they prevail.
