JF-17 offered for sale to Kuala Lumpur

Urdu Times(News) Pakistan has offered to sell JF-17 aircraft to Malaysia, which is being made in collaboration with China. "We have offered Malaysia to test JF-17, which Pakistan has made with the co-operation of China," Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said while addressing the gathering of overseas Pakistanis here on Friday. He said that he offered the Malaysian Premier Abdullah Ahmed Badawi to test JF-17 ,during talks with him. About increasing trade with India, he said that Pakistan has increased positive list in the last few months and confidence-building measures (CBMs) are improving ties between the two countries.

"The Kashmir issue should be solved in view of the aspirations of Kashmiris and both trade and Kashmir should go side by side," he added.

Replying to a question about political instability in the country, he said he is quite optimistic that the good policies will remain on track in next five to ten years.

"Pakistan cannot afford to take U-turn, as we have witnessed its negative results in the past," he added.

He noted that there are certain cabinet ministers in Malaysia who are performing their duties for last 20 to 25 years. Malaysia achieved progress due to consistent policies but Pakistan has its own requirements in terms of continuing democratic process.

He said there is no harm if the upcoming elected government brings changes in policies keeping in view the ground realities. "We have prepared 5 years, 10 years and 25 years development plans," he responded to a Pakistani student in Malaysia.

Earlier, while addressing a press conference, Shaukat said that Pakistan is lobbying for its entry into Asean as full dialogue partner. "It is not appropriate to give any time limit for achieving the desired results related to Asean," he said.

About Osama bin Laden, he said the government is in search of terrorists, and the law enforcing agencies have arrested Abu ul Faraj recently and it is a part of the efforts the government is continuing against terrorists. "There is no clue where other al Qaeda leaders are hiding," he added.

Answering a question about rising inflation, Aziz said it has gone up due to hike in international oil prices ,and growing demand in view of higher growth.

He said the government had tried to absorb the financial burden by freezing oil prices, but there were certain limits in this regard. Despite increase in oil prices, he said, these prices in India are much higher than Pakistan. Diesel prices in Bombay are 45 percent higher than in Karachi while petrol prices are up by almost 25 percent, he added.

Another factor for inflation, he said, was that demand for various things has gone up, and there is lagging effect for catching up the supply side. "We expect that Sensitive Price Index (SPI) has gone down in last two weeks," he added.
