not too good I'm sorry to say. The school's tuition is overpriced. I think one can get equally decent education at one of the State Universities. For Hofstra's price tag, one can go to NYU or Columbia in the NYC area. If you have any questions please feel free to ask..

it also depends on where he can get in, what is convenient for him and what he can afford. if he cant get into Columbia or NYU, he has to look elsewhere and if he needs to be in the city and go for the program part time, and see what is convenient for him etc etc.
Could he go to another area if he cant get into NYU or Columbia or does he have to be in that area. he has to figure out all that and see what options he is left with and pick from the best option.
Who knows Hofstra may end up being his best option. The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he did not exist. And like that... he is gone.

If Hofstra is your best option, then you might as well shoot yourself right now or enroll in Jersey state University.
In all seriousness. Hofstra is a private school, no issues with residency. It costs a pretty penny for mediocre education. If he is looking at Hofstra type status in colleges as per his scores. He should try for St. John's univ or Rutgers or something. They are all the same.

Seeker, I would really suggest that your friend think the decision through because if he/she is a resident of the tri-state area, SUNY, Rutgers, and UCONN would be excellent options as they charge very low in-state tuition and the level of education is quite good.
On a personal note, going to college in NYC is fantastic! I valued my undergrad education so much that I did my MBA work in the city. Even now, working in NYC is definately worth it (regardless of my 45 min commute).

I'll tell you guys one thing though, no matter how much you put Rutgers Univ. (my alma mater) down, it's an extremely competitive school! Moreover, it offers alot in terms of areas of study, a diverse student body, and excellent employment search prep.
