lol http://www3.pak.org/gupshup/smilies/hehe.gif Hinna, some helpful responses there! IMHO, good grades are possible if one is genuinely interested in the subject. If not, one just has to work harder @ it. Spend some time understanding what it's about etc. Some motivational talk such as "If I fail this subject, I'll have to study it all over again" also goes a long way http://www3.pak.org/gupshup/smilies/biggrin.gif

Unless you have a genuine interest in the subject at hand, the only way to get good grades is 'guess papers' in Pakistan, and cliff notes in america/canada.

Most of the subjects tacked on, specially in undergrad, are a waste of time....totally unrelated to ur major....specially in the first 2-3 semesters. And for the student, it is important to get good grades in those unrelated courses in order to maintain a good GPA, and at the same time, he/she doesnt want to spend too much time in them, since thats the last course they will be taking on that subject.
So go for cliff notes, selective studies, a little bit of guess work.

I personally think that after high school, a person should not have to even touch anything thats not related to his proposed field of practice. But unluckily, we have to...and ive found this the only way to tackle these useless demons.

hinna i think it depends on the subject itself and how the distribution of marks is assigned. Lot of books are accompanied by CDs and/or disks..so i would say that try to make good use of them..some of those cd's have summaries/and or questions or MCQ's in it that can be helpful..

Sometimes some courses are connected with WebCt..and it can have summary slides, so studying from those can help..last but not least..you should try looking for urls somewhere in the book for publisher..and guess what sometimes those websites have test banks and lots more to offer you..

Sometimes extra info on subject from web or from books can result in good grades too..

I am just wondering if your economics course is a reason for this question.

Fish_ji I don't know whether this is motivational talk! i would rather feel depressed if I thought of this prospect!!!!!

Hinna: this is what I do: try to pick up as much information as possible during the lectures. it has several advantages: first you keep in thouch with what is been talked about during the course. new info will be easy to handle. second it saves you a lot of time, because if you understand/remember most of the things what is said you won't have to spend time at home looking up things which have been explained during lectures: you have more time for more difficult subjects and finally often the lecturers tell the most important things during the lectures; so if you pay attention you will have an idea what the most relevant topics are and what most questions will be about during the exam: u can spend more time on them.

hopefully this is of some help to you! it sure helps me

Nescio, some really good suggestions there http://www3.pak.org/gupshup/smilies/smile.gif http://www3.pak.org/gupshup/smilies/ok.gif It sure is important to attend all lectures /tutorails. I am amazed when ppl who never attend lectures still manage to do very well. I guess everyone has a distict way of learning...but some golden rules do apply.

About my 'motivation talk', it sure is depressing, but that's why its motivating, if you know what I mean! It was particularly useful with certain subjects (eg. Quantum Physics)...Gosh, I am glad I don't have to study 'em ever again (hopefully!)

Hinna, good to hear about your performance in Economix. Good luck!
