    Background Info

A companion to the other post here about job titles. It would be great to see what background people come from tp get to the jobs/titles they are at currently.

    For me:
    BEng Civil Engineering
    MEng Environmental Engineering

so for me its been a straight line to becoming an environmental engineer http://www3.pak.org/gupshup/smilies/smile.gif.

I did a degree in Electronic engineering, and fell into IT by accident

Initially, worked as an operations analyst, then become a project leader. One of the projects I worked on involved setting up a post sales technical support organization from scratch. I found this really interesting, and continued my involvement in this area setting up post-sales application support organizations for ‘start-ups’ (mainly US firms setting-up operations in Europe).

I am now working as a Director of client services, managing our post sales application support organizations based in North America, Europe and the Asia Pac’ region.

The company I work for is a global organization specializing in providing knowledge-based solutions, and software for automating ‘new product development’ processes.

who-me... thats an interesting degree program. does mechatronics deal with motion in robots? Please do expand a bit further. It definately sounds like a very cutting edge field.

Its a cross of MECHAnics + elecTRONICS ....

So far I have taken subjects mainly from Mechanical, electronic and civil engineerings. This year I am doing the full Computer Science year. The approach taken by my uni is quite practical like for example in first year they gave us a bunch of electronic components and processors and said "okie guys make a robot" (it was really that kind of attitude)..... those six months were the best school time I ever had. I posted videos from the compitition sometime ago. Now in my CS year I am doing an e-commerce project which is industry based. I would say its time well spent.
The last two years will specialise in robotics and automation with subjects like Bionics and Robot control systems.

Almost as high tech as you can get here. the course is mainly funded by Rockwell and Motorola.

ghalib there are numerous places that offer that degree, one of the more famous ones being embry riddle aeronautical university. there are others that offer the program since one of my pals was looking into it a few years ago too.

Eros gets perks such as free flighst to any friggin where in the world and thats why he is never here on weekends. kehtay hain na chorr chorri karta hai toh 7 ghar chorr kar, Eros "macking" karta hai 7 state door.
