    CDR ASSOCIATES POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

    PROGRAM ASSOCIATE

    CDR Associates is a premier provider of mediation, facilitation, and public involvement services; dispute resolution system design; and conflict resolution training. We work in the workplace/organizational, environmental/public policy, and international arenas (the latter including ethnic relations and development-related conflicts). All CDR practitioners are expected to provide both intervention and training services to varying degrees in several practice areas, while cultivating a specialty. All CDR Associates staff share core expertise in conflict resolution.

    The Program Associate participates as a junior professional in CDR’s mediation, facilitation, consultation, and training, as well as marketing and business development.

    RESPONSIBILITIES
    The program associate may do any or all of the following:
    1. Serve as a junior member of facilitation, mediation and training teams. This may include providing flip-chart recording or note-taking, writing meeting summaries, handling logistical tasks, assisting with project management, and/or conducting preparatory interviews. Over time, it will also include conducting mediation, facilitation, and training depending upon the associates’ progressing level of expertise.
    2. Help write proposals and respond to information requests from prospective clients.
    3. Respond to information requests from the public when professional-level expertise is needed.
    4. Research issues and substantive information related to CDR projects, on request from other program staff.
    5. Contribute to the development and updating of training materials and marketing materials.
    6. Perform other tasks, as needed.
    7. Possibly travel regionally and nationally, occasionally at first but gradually increasing to up to as much as 50% of the time.

    QUALIFICATIONS
    Skills and experience
    1. Demonstrated commitment to the conflict resolution field through a minimum of two years’ experience or a combination of a conflict resolution degree and some practical experience.
    2. Superior writing skills.
    3. An advanced degree or equivalent demonstration of intellectual depth and curiosity.
    4. Computer literacy in Windows programs or ability to learn quickly.
    5. Outstanding relationship skills such as listening, building trust, empathizing, developing rapport, and both giving and receiving constructive criticism.


    Personal Characteristics
    1. Strong values and impeccable ethics.
    2. Courage, confidence and ease in front of groups.
    3. Personal depth and self-awareness.
    4. Ability to work as part of a team.
    5. Self-motivation, self-discipline, and capacity to work with little supervision or structure.
    6. Willingness to cope with an irregular work schedule, sometimes requiring evening and weekend work and travel.
    7. Energy, drive, and a commitment to excellence.

    Optional Qualifications
    In addition to the above requirements, any of the following would be considered a plus:
    · Addition to CDR’s racial/ethnic diversity
    · Background in any of the following substantive or technical areas:
    Ř organizational development or business management
    Ř transportation
    Ř water (allocation, quality, etc.)
    Ř land-use planning
    Ř law
    · Spanish or French language proficiency
    · International background or experience
    · Demonstrated leadership capability
    · Internet skills, particularly website development

    COMPENSATION
    Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. CDR offers excellent benefits.

    LOCATION
    The new program associate will be expected to live in the Denver/Boulder area and work out of our Boulder, Colorado headquarters. CDR also has field offices in the Sacramento, California and Washington, DC areas, and could consider eventual relocation of the program associate to one of these offices, depending on many factors including the workload at these locations.
