    Seeing the Milky Way

The brain is weird. I had seen the Milky Way on magazines/TV. But didn't connect the dots. Apparently this weekend (Sunday?) the moon is below Jupiter. Or what is called moonless night.

Anyway on a moonless night if you go to a dark area with no city lights you can see the milky way! Any enthusiasts who can give tips on when this will happen?

Also street lights without a top cover send most of the light upwards. Wasting energy and increasing co2 emissions in addition to unnecessary light pollution. Lighting exterior of ur house - a waste. The lamp shade has to be designed s.t. most light directed downwards. Not sideways where it can enter thru window of house.

So turn of ur house outside lights. And give a dirty look to street lights without top lamp cover.

    Happy Milky Way hunting.

    Re: Seeing the Milky Way

I tried to find out where the Milky Way would be located in the sky in my area but there really isn't much information out there. My grandfather lives in the rural part of town where there is no such thing as street lights......I might try to head out there tomorrow night to try to find it.

For people who live in Arizona I did find out that the Milky Way will be directly overhead around 10 PM.

                        ^That was my best bet.

I didn't get to 'escape' the city tonight but did go outside to look for it just for kicks. Waited around 10 minutes for my eyes to adjust to the darkness but sadly didn't see anything that remotely looked like it could pass as the Milky Way. On the bright side the night sky looked beautiful plus the we had a slight breeze................simple bliss.

^ I got all excited when I saw 1st line of post in Realtime.

Mr. Slims, as stated before, needs intervention.
