report a "bad" website

does anybody know where and to who should i report a website that i think is spreading hatred and misinformation??

what i wanna do is to get the following site noticed by someone and to do something abt them

first site is a Christian site claiming to know everything about Islam and Quran, but they are just spreading misinformation. just follow any link and u'll know wut i mean

the second site was banned by AOL and now they are back again, i fully intend to ban them for this one as well.

so if someone knows how to do that

If they are not spreading hatred then under the freedom of speech act you cannot do anything... Best thing to do is ignore such sites..

but site #2 was banned by AOL cause someone complained abt it and made a good point.

This is called freedom of speech. Let them say what they say. People know the truth & obviously if some one wants to quench the quest they will not look at only one site.

There are good sites as well explaining what islam actually is e.g. www.islam.org

but where do u draw a line on freedom of speech? i personally was very offended and everyone else on my address book that i told abt these site was pissed too. doesn't freedom of speech has any limit? im sure there is. nobody has any right to go on and say stuff about anyone's religion.

Now since its a TECH forum and someone will come and tell me that i better stick to only technical stuff, so ....... i was hoping if anybody knwo who to report abt these sites or any sites that are considered "bad" (e.g child pornography for one, or someone explicitly spreading hatred)

There's not much that can be done about hate websites. It's all about freedom of speech.

I've seen many Islamic sites talking about Jesus in Quran, then whats wrong with Christians talking the other round?! As long as you believe in your faith, just ignore such sites, pray 5 times a day, and stay away from evil

On the internet you can post just about anything you like, depending solely on which country you host the site in. If the site is in the US or some other Western countries, you may be able to threaten the ISP hosting it into removing it by threatening to bring a lawsuit against them - but on the other hand, the ISPs can afford better qualified and mroe menacing lawyers than you can.

If the site is hosted in a country where laws don't really enable web-hosting companies to be threatened, then there's not much you can do. For example, Russian companies hosted large numbers of child pornography websites, much to the anger of Western governments, but they could not do anything as there were no provisions under Russian law for these sites to be shut down.

ok, i was almost convinced that i should leave these kinda sites alone, then my cousion pointed out that what about new muslims.

People who don't have much guidance, they will look at the address like www.thequran.org and might think the material authentic

its fine for us Muslim who were brought up in Islamic ways but what about these new Muslims or non-muslims that would go on sites like these? shouldn't we alteast warn them abt these sites?

Each & every reasonable person listens to both sides. So if non-muslims will go there they will always try to get more & will definately try the good sites too.

Dont worry just relax, have a glass of cold fresh water or go out for a walk. Let the dogs bark, barking dogs seldom bite.

freedom of speech. It is bull. freedom of speech is one thing and lying about other religions is another. I hope there is a way to stop or ban these kind of sites on the net.
Once I visited a site that was telling the errors in Qur'an (astagfirullah). And then there is a sect in Islam that wrote their own surah, about 3 or 4 of them. Oh God. I forgot the sect name.

Shahzad, unfortunately there is not much you can do thru proper channels to stop someone from excercising their freedom of speech. This site afterall is hosted in U.S. Im not aware of all the details why the AOL banned the other site tho.
You can however produce a counter website that tells the "truth" about the issues and these sites. Then u will be excercising your freedom of speech
These sites can be defaced, hax0red or just plain attacked thru DoS, but thats illegal and beyond the scope of this forum. I suggest you contact G-Force
