Video: Upside-down Camaro debuts in LeMons race

Filed under: Motorsports, Etc., Videos, Specialty, Racing

The man who, on the internet, goes by the name Speedycop has unleashed his latest crazy contraption on the racing masses at LeMons: an upside-down Camaro. Speedycop, self-described as "an eight-year-old kid trapped in a 40-year-old body, with just enough talent to pull off my wacky ideas," fashioned this beast out of the sordid carcasses of two vehicles, "a wretched 1990 Ford Festiva and a horrible 1999 Chevy Camaro."

The twist, as its name implies, is that the Camaro body shell is mounted upside-down atop the Festiva's guts, which includes the Ford's notoriously underpowered 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine. As you might expect, its extremely backward aerodynamics and distinct lack of horsepower conspire to keep the upside-down Camaro at the back of the race field. But that's hardly the point now, is it?

See how the upside-down Camaro navigates the New Jersey Motorsports Park in the video below, then click here to see one of Speedycop's other outrageous LeMons race machines.Continue reading Upside-down Camaro debuts in LeMons race
