    why is there no sound?

I have the speakers turned on and up, the volume is up on the computer but there is still no sound when I try to play something. Could you guys tell me what the problem might be? Its very frustrating. The windows music plays when i turn on the pc so the speakers are fine Im assuming.

Catzz, can you be little more specific please..

So as I understand ~~> when you turn on PC it plays the Microsft jingle..

Then you play a Music CD or MP3 file?? You get no sound..

It could be the level of volume for wave is turned on, but maybe one of the other is not!?

So check all the volume levels.. That can be done of you "DOUBLE CLICK" on the speaker icon in the taskbar (bottom left)

And it looks something like this:

Go to control panel, and dbl-click sounds, go to Audio tab and check whether the right sound card is selected, i.e. the card that the speakers are connected to.
