Back in Pakistan where we used to live i.e, Block 6 PECHS, near Razi Road, there was used to be a Ghunda Badmash.
Yes a genuine GHUNDA or I should say BADMASH. His real name was Bunty but people used to call him Badmash or Ghunda. He never gives a damn about what people think and what they call him. Instead the name Badmash and Ghunda was so popular and scary to some that women used to scare their kids that if they don't sleep they'll call Badmash (Ghunda). Badmash Ghunda was so daring that he used to snatch things from pedestrians and sometimes from home - especially kitchen when he used to get hungry.
Although many of us had khofnaak dogs, but jee Ghunda proved himself to be a real Ghunda Badmash. He even scared dogs, chokidaars and private security guards with his DHEHSHUT. Yes that is true. I had never seen people walking outside specially after 8:00pm caused they were so much under that impression that Ghunda will be out there...
There was a time when Ghunda Badmash was on his urooj, he even stalked people and hurt many but no one had guts to do something face to face or even call police for that matter. Even police mobile never used to come in our area once he attacked them. Ghunda Badmash never used to like intruders on our street.
I've been informed recently that Ghunda Badmash passed away in an accident cause he was too weak and old. One day, while he was walking down the street some punks ran over him and he immediately passed away (Inna Lillah). That day the whole neighbour hood was sad, because they lost the companion of probably 20 some years. Even he was a Ghunda Badmash but he was part of our neighbourhood (that's right).
At this point all of you may be wondering how come the whole janta was sad on his demise and why not this news brought a smile on their faces.... well, the simple reason is Ghunda Badmash was once a paltoo (Pet) billa and after a while became awara. After afterwards and had love affairs with almost every cats on that street. Ghunda Badmash left many siblings but no one continued his legacy of dhehshut
Alas! Ghunda Badmash aaj hum main nahi tu kiya howa us ki memories tu zindah rahain gee
- in the loving memories of Ghunda Badmash Salman
