    bad interview

I went to interview at Manchester uni today. I didnt expect to be bombarded with questions about Pharmacy be4 I even start the course! the guy was asking me things like "tell me all the ways of getting drugs into ur body"...if your toe hurt, how would u make sure the drug got in there...I gave such a stupid answer

then he was asking me the disadvantages of inhaling drugs, and disadvantages of cremes/ointments. and what happens when medicine gets in body, where it goes. how a headache pill works.

and then "why is it not very good to take injections? "...i said "you can get infection"....he said "but what if I leave my pills lieing around on dirty table"....I made up an answer and said..."from injection, the drug goes directly into blood" blah blah
then he says "what else is disadvantage?" ...I said "you can catch diseases if another person has used that same needle" he says "what kind of disease?"...I said "AIDs" and he went on and on......

then he says "what are u finding hard in ur subjects so far?"...I couldnt think of anything...so I just said "chemistry"...he says "what exactly?"
I am sooo silly. I said "acids etc..."

then he was asking me what the course is about...and what pharmocology is. it was such a weird interview

then after that, I was in common room with this other girl I had met during the day. and some med students were there playing snooker...we had to fill in a form...and they secretly helped us in one section, I had to write about a recent news item related to science. I asked the medical student and I really thought she said "soft drinks contain a chemical that shrinks the intestines"...I wrote it down...and when she saw what I wrote...she said its not supposed to be "intestines"...its supposed to be something else something bad... and then I had no choice but to write what she said I feel so bad now and what if they reject me based on that!

Surely you must have more interviews coming up?

at least in your future interviews you will have some sort of an idea of the knowledge you are expected to have before hand if you are applying for a pharmacology course. You have to prove your interest.

Don't worry about it. The more interviews you have, the more you'll learn how to handle them.

Hey, don't worry impulse. Interviews can be weird.

When I went for my interview at UCL (wow that was like 4 years ago) I was the only person there not dressed in a suit (I wore jeans and a Reebok sweatshirt ) and I couldn't answer correctly any of the logic problems I was tested with, and I gave lame answers to all the questions......

....and they ended up offering me a scholarship.

Interviews can be plain old weird.
