    Stereotyping and the likes

During discussions/arguments, why do we find it so necessary to stereotype and label people with tags without fully knowing what they believe in? Take religion as an example. A remotely religious stance in an argument gets you swiftly dubbed as a “maulana”. On the other hand, take a remotely anti-religious stance and you are called a “non-believer”.

Doesn’t this thing sort of kills any argument from developing in the first place? Why cant we talk to people without making these huge sets of assumptions about them?

Yes Fraudia thats exactly what I am saying. Why cant we do without it? Blatant stereotyping leaves no room for further arguments.

Time saving is bad when it leads to unwarranted short-cuts. U can't take the easy way out of everything. Everyone stereotypes, but if everyone jumps off the Eiffel tower doesn't mean u should do it too.

You just answered your own previous statement :--)

But tell me Ana, is it really taking the easy way out? I dont think so. I think, its equivalent to refusing to discuss the issue and also a refusal to listen to what the other person is saying.

                              Scratch miaN,

Your commentry is too broad and unclear. Stereotypes are good in some cases and not so good in others. It all depends on the context. You have to look at things from case to case basis.
