    The Hockey Nomad - for Cdn. Guppies

    For hockey enthusiasts and Canadian Guppies...
    A programme broadcast yesterday by CBC's Passionate Eye, airing again on CBC on 1 February @ 11pm.

    The programme follows a Canadian author and musician, Dave Bidini, as he travels to particular regions of the world in order to understand how the Canadian game of hockey has 'mixed' with the particular local culture of that area. One of their stops is Dubai (al Nasr ice rink), where the CBC crew meets up with the "Mighty Camels" - a hockey team comprised of Canadian ex-pats who regularly play against Arab hockey teams from Jordan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain. The programme broadcasts segments of one of the Mighty Camels Tournaments in Dubai, which was occurring on that day. They also travel to other regions, including Mongolia and Romania.

    Watch it if you have nothing better to do - apart from the interesting mix of cultures, it's also really funny. Repeat broadcast on 1 Feb. on CBC.

      Interesting, I had no clue that ice hockey even existed in Arab countries.

        FW, neither did i. It was extremely interesting to see Arab men, playing hockey as competitively and fiercely as i have seen here in Canada, in Dubai of all places. The competition was so fierce in both teams, you could see each Arab and Cdn. player loved the game.

          Cool, I'm definately going to have to watch that. I'd love to see some footage on how intensely the game is played.

            Hey. i watched the whole thing. it was pretty cool seeing those rich arab brats beat them expats...although them bulgs did most of the work. That naked white guy really turned me on. I got most of it captured, so if someone wants it PM me!

                      Acutally felt sorry for the guy...seemed like he was giving the interviewer a speach for why they should let him enter Canada.
