    Women

I've talked to some girlfriends regarding women in power(presidential, prime ministerial - is this a word?, senatorial, etc)and most of them have suggested that if women were in such positions, the world would be a better place. They wish that more women ran for governmental positions, etc.

Now the thing is, none of them wanted to do this themselves. They felt other women would be adequate and would qualify, but they themselves would not. When asked why, the responses varied from, "I'm too sensitive." to "Men wouldnt take me seriously." I've heard both sentiments often. I just dont understand it. Considering how women deal in their daily lives with men, with their loved ones, etc, I dont know why they couldnt deal with it.

Anyway, what I wanted to ask was, do you think women are inherently incapable of having such a leading role in government/politics? Would you vote for a woman if she was qualified, for a governmental position?

I know many people who think this way, but would not say it openly to other (only a select few).

As far as the hadith about women not taking such lead positions (which came after the war led by Ayesha(RA)), that hadith has been debated, and some, but not all scholars consider it weak. If this is your reasoning, please state it.

I'd like to know anyones opinoin on this, and I'd like it if all jokes were kept out of this thread. Thanks.

women are much more stronger (not physically) wittier humanitarian and diplomatic then men.
when challenged they can move mountains with their pinkies...all they have to do is get it in their minds what to do...
how ever the only set back is the tidal waves of emotions. if a women is capeable can make herself adjust to emotionally disturning situations..this world would no doubt be a better place to live in!

i think women can handle it, as long as they realize the whole "i am too sensitive" or "i am not strong enough" type reasons are social constructs, not biological.

My university's president is a woman right now, the first woman in the history of the university and she's doing more than all the other presidents could ever do.

Granted, just like not every man can hold such positions, not every woman can either.

          a big NO from me....
Both Halal & Haram r evident but between them r doubtful things, most ppl have no knowledge about them. So whoever saves himself from suspicious things saves his religion & honor, & whoever indulges in suspicious things indulges in Haram.

                  Re: Women

Munni, I was president of the activist wing of our college MSA and shuru mein i was like no way there's no way i can do it being a girl and everything but then everyone convinced me and alhamdulillah it was a great experience and I didn't feel that being female was a disadvantage for me in any way...

Yes, I think women alhamdulillah are capable of this. Hazrat Khadija ra was a good business woman and Hazrat Ayesha ra even fought in a war.

Women have much softer and merciful hearts and if they ruled the world would definitely be a better and more peaceful place.

Waisay Benazir was a disappointment So was Condolezza Rice. So was Madelaine Albright. I have yet to see a real life example of a woman in a leadership role who was good. But I think it is possible
