    Dramatised

Last weekend, I turned on TV and there was a documentary about destruction of Smallpox. All the events were gruesome and described in the past which made me wonder when did that happen. I got extra information on the teletext that it was meant to be a DRAMATISED documentary. It would have been OK if it meant to spread awareness about Smallpox and how to tackle it. But NO it was all, how the supposed terrorists got the smallpox and how they spread and how many millions died due to that. It could really sent shivers to one's spine. Today, I went to BBC and saw this news item and I thought wow they have got proof that Iraqis have got chemical weapons since they are gonna use it but it's all speculations coming from Iraq Opposition.

Can media be any pathetic than that?

Khanbabs, I saw the same programme last week, but unlike you, I thought it was amazing. I didn't actually realise that it was dramatised 'till they showed the dates (2004 etc). It did spend shivers down my spine, but it also opened my eyes as to the long lasting effect of germ warfare.

I don't think the aim of the documentary was to highlight terrorism, instead it was trying to show us how very unprepared we are for such a disaster.

I’m never going to dodge the TV license people again – the BBC have done me proud.

That reminds me, my tv license is overdue by two months and counting... what a waste of a hundred quid.

I didn't see this show btw, and I don't really care about it either. It's all crap.

Mr X, for once pls talk out of ur mouth instead of ur arse. U'll be surprised at how much better you sound

The BBC is a great British institution, and you should be proud to pay your license fee to such a great cause. I really really really wish you get done for not paying it.

You guys pay license fee to a TV channel to watch it? How archaic!

All this talk of tv license fee reminded me of long notices which used to scroll on PTV of days gone by... where they'd warn customers that they should pay their TV license fee "warna unn ke khilaf qanooni karwai shuru karr dee jayegi". Sheesh

ps.. Sorry khan_sahib. Didn't mean to go off-topic.

I was under the impression you paid for the TV not the channel...

I mean you need a TV licence to own the TV rite? Or is it actually for the channel?

Faisal ~ We don't get scrolls. We get a full 30 odd second advert. And i promise i'm not lying when i say the TV licensing dept. turned up once when Dad was doing the Pakistani thing and pretending he had black and white instead of colour

You buy the tv, but to watch the channels you have to pay for a license. And if you don't they confiscate your Tv, fine you and whatnot. Well they don't but you know...threats and all that

Now that this thread is almost completely shot to hell, may ask if you guys pay a licence fee to BBC and on top, also pay something extra to have various satellite channels or is it just one big bill?
