I would have to say either the plane or the telephone. No other invention has done more to make this smaller world by bringing people closer. Computer is still not as prevalent.

how about the electrical generator? after all without electricity there would be none of the machines we usuualy see.. The common rotor machine occurs everywhere in life, from fans to cars...
