    You Make Me Sick ...

I was reading a post over at Khail Khilari where some guy made the following comment about an Asian guy who's playing for the England cricket team:

Shah is a sell out and will be crucified by the Pakistani crowds if he bats against us in the forthcoming matches.

    WHY ???? http://www3.pak.org/gupshup/smilies/disgust.gif

Nassir Hussain recently made a comment whereby he suggested that second generation Pakistanis, who have been brought up in England should be supporting the English. The comment caused an uproar.

I'm not against these guys for supporting Pakistan .... I understand that they don't feel accepted in England but what I am against is the way they criticise those who follow the English team. Everytime I try watching a match with my brothers, they look at me with disgust and call me a coconut (brown on the outside and white on the inside) cuz I'm cheering for England, yet not once have I questioned their need to support a country where they have spend fewer than six months in.

Why do Pakistanis have such an inferiority complex ?????

Why do they get so offended if someone does support an outside team ?????

So, verily, with every difficulty, there is relief:
Verily, with every difficulty there is relief.

I never visioned myself saying this ... but ... I do agree with you on this, Sobz!

I cannot justify the behavior or my dear countrymen but I would like to offer my apologies on their behalf.

Maybe of you talk to them and make your point? But please don't start your argument by saying that they make you sick!
I know that you believe that you understood what you think I said, but I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.

      >>>Why do Pakistanis have such an inferiority complex ?????<<<
This question is totally irrelevant to what you have posted (not a surprise). Maybe u didn't read what u wrote. Supporting Pakistan is not a complex whatsoever. However, I agree that a Brit-Pakistani playing for a England should not be crucified...thats a dumb idea.

      >>>Why do they get so offended if someone does support an outside team ?????<<<
Hello? u don't know much about sports do u? Fans of one team abviously are not in love with the crowd supporting their rivals.

It has nothing to do with Pakistan and its supporters... Its just You ma friend

Ok shah should not be crucified.
But the pakistani should be allowed to choose which team to support.
Just because they live in england does not mean they have to give up their roots and culture etc etc.
These pakistani have every right to support pakistan.

And sobi what does staying in a country have to do with loving it??
        There is no correlation.
They love pakistan because they are pakistani.

By that token... Shivanarain Chanderpaul is a traitor.. he reserves his best innings for matches against India..
Reminds me of Rohan Kanhai and Kaalicharan too.
Only Robin Singh came back to play for the original motherland of his ancestors.....
However, I agree with Naseer Hussain(who like Mark RamPrakash is of Indian origin).

Who is Nassir Hussain to tell people who to support? People should be allowed to support whichever team they want to as it is a sport.

The reason why pakiz act like these is the society coz everyone knows that people in India do support Manchester United. People in Pakistan do appreciate the game of Stephen Hendry and Ronnie O' Sullivan compared to Yousuf something of Pakistan. I really hate this generalisation when people take a sample from few hundred thousands Asians abroad and implement it on 150 million Pakistanis in Pakistan.

People like Nasser Hussain who suggests these kind of ideas are no different than those who ask their relatives to vote for the team they like to support.

Shah should play for england and all brits of pakistani origin should celebrate the fact that one of theirs is in the national squad.

He is just as much a sellout as any person who lives outside pakistan and decides to work locally rather than going back to pakistan to work..and by that token all of us are sellouts..well almost.

or newscasters or actors..or even singers who are UK based rather than Pakistan based. Tell Aki Nawaz to quit fundamental and go have duets with shazia mansoor

                Three cheers for shah..

I hope and wait for the day when a brit-pak would make it to the football team too..

i totally agree Fraudz, the fact that a pakistani has made it to the English National side should be celebrated, it goes to show that they are not biased against asian players and choose the team based on qualifications not their country of origin. i wish oWAis Shah all the success in the world, imn sure he'll do alot to encourage other young asian players to also aspire to achieve something like he has.

                        et tu, Brute?

no probs--support who you want. I personally support Pakistan in cricket but I have a lot of affection for England too

I think it is stupid to criticise Owais Shah--the truth is I am crap at cricket but if I was good enough to be an international star I would be playing for England for the simple reason that I grew up here

Sadi. Next time carry an icepick with you to the matches. If your brothers irritate you their remarks, stick one up their balls. Let’s see how many wickets can they take. Enough is enough. They make me sick too.
