    Dumb Americans :-)

    hey without wanting to cause any offense to my USA-Canadian Guppians-- why is it that in general americans are so dumb ?

    I mean they dont know anything about the world outside the USA! One of my pakistani friends went to the West Coast of the US and he met someone who asked him where you from and when he said "pakistan" she replied "jee man! is that on the East coast someplace?"

    I mean I know pakistan is not the most important country in global affairs..but !!!



    (I have met a few really bright americans but they've all been desis or jews and one was a russian!)

    ITs not matter of being dumb. ITs matter of ignorance. Americans are busy into their own world. Majority dont care what goes outside AMerica. Their World is America.
    I depends on who you ask too. Come on , asking one person doesnt reflect that everyone is in the same boat.

      Asif, I agree with you. An average American is not the most worldly when it comes to places and geography, but let me share another secret with you. You will find beggars on the streets of New York who would know more about the world than your Queen HRH Elizabeth (Lizzy the lizard). While you inquire how dumb the English are, also go and check with someone in Patuki where Parkesburg is. I think that your friend must have met an English women on the West Coast who thought Pakistan was on the East coast. Generally speaking, people on the West Coast don’t refer to East Coast as East Coast. I will leave it for you to guess what they it.

      Sorry to hurt your feelings about the Queen.

        No one says anything about HRH The Queen, the Queen Mother or any member of the royal family and gets away with it. (Cue: National Anthem). I'm giving ur number to the Secret Services as we speak

        In all honesty Asif, i used to agree with u once upon a time but now i've grown to realise that by judging a race as 'dumb' or 'inferior' we are somehow suggesting that we are superior, and no we are not. Every country has it's fair share of no marks. I could show you plenty of 'intelligent' people who couldn't name more than 10 states in the US, but could perform heart surgery. On the same note, i know individuals who could name every country in the middle east and work as taxi drivers. So basically, it's all about individual interests. My personal geography is totally crap but i could babble on for hours about social issues and classical sociologist.

              i was watching leno 2 nights ago.

              leno was testing how good is the general-knowledge geography of ur avg pedestrian (on campus)

              This idiot couldn't even answer what continent the USA was in.

              The person was guessing ... South America??
              Mexico ???
