Becoming a donor......

Has anyone of you ever thought of becoming a donor for "organs" like blood, bone marrow, kidney?????
And what about becoming a donor for organs like heart, liver, 2 kidneys, etc. after your death??????

yup, i have.. if they can salvage something after I die then its fine they can take.. although i dont want to become a cadaver... and i have made my wishes known to my family.. if only i can find that card that.. comes with your liscence..

I ve heard about it, but sum1 told me that it is unislamic..although i support this idea...i dunno if i am permitted to do so or not

as u all know there is a huge shortage of donor organs.
Do u think it is ethical to solve this problem by giving donororgans only to those who are donors themselves???????

I'm an organ and blood donor (only one of these I'm doing right now, you can guess which ).

I seriously doubt that God would not want me to help people after I die.

Donated blood loads of time, they give you a fresh glass of juice and a donut

I so desperately wanted to match up with this individual who needed a bone marrow transplant but it didnt work out
He is only 18 but they are trying the Placenta procedure on him

I was willing to donate my excess body fat, but they didn't want it for some reason...

I have not found anything so far which says that donating organs is unislamic.. if it was all th maulvis would be up in arms about all the eye donations which come to pakistan from Sri Lanka.. (which seems to be the world's biggest donor for eyes/conrneas)

In fact I would think that islam actually encourages such donations as you will be helping a fellow man even after your death.

To my understanding, the trade of organs/blood for "money" is unislamic. But donations, which will help other fellow beings, is certainly encouraged!!

If people are concerned, they should post a message on the Religion Forum and see what others have to say ...

I have the little 'agreement' sticker on the back of my driving license. (It says stuff like--If I die, the following organs may be donated for good cause)

well..it might sound selfish but im not comfortable with the idea of donating my organs for some reason...
as for blood...havent tried it yet. First of all im afraid of needles and cant stand looking at blood and second, i tend to faint when blood's taken out of me ..happens everytime i go for a blood test.
