    Ramadan Mubarak-Fasting commences 26th November

Ramadan Mubarak -Fasting commences 26th November

Allahu Akbar. The new moon of Ramadhan has been sighted in Libya. In accordance with the hadiths of the Messenger of Allah (saw) fasting will commence on Sunday 26th November.
Muslim reported on the authority of Abdullah Ibnu Omar (R) that the Messenger of Allah (saw) made mention of Ramadhan and with a gesture of his hand said: "The month is thus and thus. (He then withdrew his thumb at the third time indicating 29). He then said: Fast when you see it, and break your fast when you see it, and if the weather is cloudy do calculate it (the months of Shaban and Shawwal) as thirty days."
Bukhari reported on the authority of Ibnu Omar (R) that the Messenger of Allah (saw) said: "The month consists of 29 nights, so do not fast till you have sighted it (i.e. the new moon), and if the weather were cloudy, then complete it as thirty days."
As these hadith clearly indicate, even a single sighting of the moon is sufficient for the whole Muslim Ummah to begin the fast. www.ramadhan.org invites you to join the hundreds of thousands of visitors that have regularly visited this premier website over the last few years. To benefit from the tafseers, Islamic culture, Muslim news and audio visual presentations that will appear daily throughout this blessed month. www.ramadhan.org wishes the mercy of Allah (swt) upon you and that He (swt) envelops you with His (swt) kindness during this month.

I know this a favorite discussion topics for many muslims whether all muslims should celebrate ramadhan and eid on the same day or should each country be following its own sighting. This is a religious discussion. Lets leave it out for now (Start it in Religion Forum if you must).

Now, I have the newspaper in front of me, which says that Saudi Arabia and many other ME/Arab countries will have the first roza on Monday November 27, 2000, because Ramadhan moon was NOT sighted on Saturday night.

This would mean that in all probability the roza would start on Tuesday in Pakistan. So no Taraweeh tonight.

          PS. Me, in Lahore
