Assalam-o-alaikum!
Based on a partial return (14%) of the exit poll forms distributed two weeks
ago to members of the American Muslim Alliance NJ Chapter, American Muslim
Union, and Association for Community Planing, following are the choices made
for candidates for Election - 2000.
President/Vice President: Bush/Cheney (R) (81%)
U.S. Senate: Jon Corzine (D) (76%)
Congressmen:
For Dist. 1-6, 8, 9 No recommendation
Dist. 7 Maryanne Connelly (D)
Dist. 10 Donald Payne (D)
Dist. 11 Rodney Frelinghuysen (R)
Dist. 12 Rush Holt (D)
Dist. 13 Robert Mendez (D)
Although the poll was small and non-scientific, it represents the
choices of Muslims of diverse ethnic origins that comprise the three
organizations. Understandably many may disagree, we suggest that all eligible
Muslims cast their vote in favor of these candidates in order to build a
voting block that would reflect our strength and would hopefully impact the
election outcome.
