    WHAT ARE WE?

i'm quite interested to know what people's views are on the fact as to what we really are. By this i am actually referring to all of us who have been born and raised in a western country. do u class yourself as a citizen of your country or do u feel that u r inherently pakistani and will always call yourself pakistani. is it because u originally feel that way or is it because u have been made to feel that way? what to the pakistanis think of us? do they class us as pakistani or as foreigners? so what do u think?

If u spend 2 billion dollors, u can find where u r or where anyone is. US army has put their global positioning system on sale. It tells u where u are withing accuracy of 10 meters.

well, i'll alwayz be a pakistani cuz my heart alwayz will be with pak...no matter what...as far as being brought up elsewhere, i guess adapting the good things from the society that u live in defines who u really are...

We are who we are, what we are, when we are, where we are, why we are and how we are...heheheh http://www3.pak.org/gupshup/smile.gif

Okay well seriously how we see ourselves lies in our mindset, and our own perceptions of ourselves and as well as the perceptions of those around of us.

To most i probably seem like an alien, i dress different, i act different, think different, look different http://www3.pak.org/gupshup/confused.gif maybe, probably. But the thing is i don't feel like an alien. And thats the key--to be content with who you are-where you are-and what you are, No Matter What. You are who you are, and that is yourself.

I guess growing up in a western country, makes you more aware of your culture and religion. So much so that you push it to the forefront of things you feel make you who you are....i guess thats what makes so many of us regard ourselves as pakistanis rather than canadians, despite the fact that we were born and/or grew up here. But its not that we discard our citizenship to the country we live in..its just that we see pakistan as where our roots are, and the roots are what give the leaves the nutrients to unfurl right? If we have been made to feel that way--as u said--, it is nothing more than our hearts that have made us feel that way and there is nothing wrong in that...am i making any sense http://www3.pak.org/gupshup/confused.gif

Okay well to be absolutely honest, i first see myself and muslim, then as a pushtun, pakistani or canadian, etc, etc., and so when u see yourself that way..the other stuff really doesnt make much of a difference..some but not a whole lot. Hmmm well if you got anything out of that bafflegab http://www3.pak.org/gupshup/smile.gif i'm glad, and if you didn't just ignore it http://www3.pak.org/gupshup/biggrin.gif

Ads07 has asked a question that has been addressed here a few times, most recently by Fraudia. It is a tricky question. I think one can be multiple things at once. You are a Foreigner when you visit your motherland, and Pakistani where you live. The best place probably to be in is in the airplane and having a cold beer. Hell with the nationality crap.

By the way, I am a Pakistani of Jewish ancestry.

I was born and raised in Pakistan. I've been in US for 8 years. I consider myself both Pakistani and American.

The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he did not exist. And like that... he is gone.

Roman, you are a lot more than just an American and a Pakistani. Donít short-change yourself.
