    Question for Catwoman….

Hey Cattie How big is Oliver Mtukudzi (aka Tuku) in Southern Africa? I dined with him this weekend, as he is here on a tour with his band and doing two gigs in NYC (courtesy of WMI, of which I am a member). I have personally loved his stuff for a long long time (going back to my college days), is he bigger than what the music industry know him for? I made friends with a couple in his band (who came to my house for dinner), and I am invited to go to SA and Zimbabwe..

Tiregerereiwo is one of my most favorite and also Pindirai.

Thought you might know of him.

Yeah, he looks tired as well sitting on a cushy chair while his offspring are standing attention. I don't know if it is Viagra or what, but I can't really see his face very clearly in this photo.

hey Madhanee uncle, I've never heard of him to tell you the truth. My knowledge of African artists is quite poor, although I like the sounds of Afro-Jazz and kwasa-kwasa. Thats quite cool you met him though, I just googled him - he's Zimbabwean hey. Well if you do visit SA, let me know we can drive up to Zim through the Victoria Falls.

Madhanee, what's your impression of him? How big is Oliver Mtukudzi in your eyes? I mean, statement like musician of his caliber comes once in a millennia is pretty broad.

Big man big. Let's just say that the biggest I have seen in ages. I would place him next to Aalamgir or Mohammad Ali Shacky in terms of talent.
