If you are in KDA Scheme 1, you can go to Gillato Affair for an icecream (if you walk towards Stadium...you will hit Gellato Affair immediately after where there is a slope-end on the road ). There are also a couple of boutiques and beauty saloons and a couple of eateries out there. then there is NADRA's office as well, but you would rather not go there.

The by-road up to Stadium is beautiful as it is a walk in the evenings would be real good

KDA my old haunts, ... walk over to national coaching center for all kinds of sports, squash, badminton, table tennis.

If you can hail a cab, you can go to bahadurabad and tariq road area which is just minutes away and you can do tons of window shopping.

suburbs are not the best place in pretty much any city to be able to go to snazzy cafe's, packed bistros and great shopping. There are things around you but they are not walking distance.

on karsaz base there was a naval museum, then right down the street u have PAF faisal base and air war college with museum there too.

actually if u can walk to national coaching center, just 5 mins walk from there is Hassan square area, tons of shops there as well.

if you go on that road that connects to gulshan e iqbal..you can find lots of restaurants around..including usmania..pizza hut..silver spoon..that sajji place and i think there is a bookstore around too..

As Mr. Fraudia suggested..you should visit the navy museum on karsaz road..you can have an evening walk in their park..and if you want you can do the boating in that small pond.

and if you want..you can always take a cab or rickshaw to malls and markets..

          Good luck :-)

                  amelie,

okay to make the most of your time here, contact one of those services that send you a a chauffer in uniform and an airconditioned car. it was around 25-30/day if you sign up for a week, its a small price for makign the most of your time there. This should also ease the in-laws concerns about taking a taxi or rikshaw somewhere.

the other road qrius was talkign about is if i recall correctly university road. when you walk down towards national stadium, keep going and at hassan square take a right that entire stretch is full of restaurants, shops etc.

P.S. dont go left at hassan square or you will wind up in sabzi mandi
P.S. sequel: dont go straight after hassan square or you will eventually wind up in lalu khet

To get to university road, make a left on karsaz (from gelato affair).
When the road ends, there is a traffic light to make a right, or a ramp to go left. You would want to go left.
Then make a right at the first traffic light.
Go about 1 mile. There will be a busy intersection (hassan square). Make a right onto University Road. The shops and restaurants will be on the left.
Evenings is the best time to go there.
