    Subway-- World Number one Franchise?

It is supposedly said to have 21700 outlets worldwide. And I see their ads almost everyday on cable claming that they are ranked number one worldwide. Any truth in those claims? What about Mcdonalds, pizza huts, dominos, popayes etc.

I didnt know where to post it, Mods feel free to move it.

It would be of paramount benefit if Guppies in Pakistan can post pics of Subway sandwiches, pizza hut's pizzaaz, KFC and Dunkin Donuts menu items for us. I would like to see how they look different.

      Gracias Mi Amors...

As a subway franchisee, its #1 in terms of numbers in the USA and also ranked #1 franchise opportunity

McDonalds has 28,000 plus restaurants worldwide which is more than subway

This is a vague claim... "Number 1" in what. They may just be number one in employee satisfaction (or reading 50-B's post, maybe Franchisee's satsifaction). These are classic marketing ploys.. i.e. to keep it vague enough so no one can file a law suit for "false advertisement", while at the same time promoting the brand and give a misleading impression in the mind of a casual listener. Other favorite terms are "World's favorite French Fries" or "The Best...". There is no way you can prove one way or the other whether McDonald's French fries are world's "favorite" or not. A lot of people may eat it, but it may or may not be their favorite. These are all marketing ploys, and fortunately they work real nicely.

The biggest examples of vague and border-line misleading advertisements are on bottled water...things like "bottled at the source" "natural spring water" etc make ppl think they are buying something better than normal tap water, but technically no such claim is made, hence no "false advertisement" claim.

I am sure once myvoice gets out of Feedback forum, he will have a far more authoritative explanation on such marketing claims.

me too, I think i am gonna order one.

Faisal-- my thoughts exactly, its a vague claim indeed. I was wondering is there any critieria enough to determine which one is the best?
