A rather dumb question

Why is it that during war or any sort of disaster...sinking ship, floods, hijaking etc etc etc.

You always hear...let the women and children go first? why is it..

I am not looking at it from a chauvanistic point of view, but simply from a logical point.

the logic behind this is/was that men are physically stronger and thus let the kids and women go first...

But isn't there a flip side to this logic as well? what if the women and children did make it and the men perished...What place and opportunities did society have for widows and orphans? what did they wind up as?

So was that not thus counter productive? It is said that in wars case its men's doing so they kep innocent people e.g. women and kids out of harm's way.

But from a total logical point of view..taking emotions (and compassion) out of the equation...was women and children first approach...the right one..

um cuz it only takes one guy to ahhh impregnate many many women....and continue the human race.

While..one girl and many guys...doesn't do much…to continue the entire population..etc etc.

Plus dang it!! Men protect women from the harsh realities in life..

The answer is very simple. As you know we man are superior to woman (and always have been).

Interesting discussion.
Basically what kashmiri girl said, but I would like to add a little to it.
You also let the women go because you need mothers to take care of the innocent children, and the injured men, the men would be too busy fighting and would not have too much time for it in the wars. Also, lets say it was the other way around, there would be too few woman and the men would get killed anyways fighting over the women
