Sydney, Australia: Pakistani cricket star Shoaib Akhtar endeared himself to the Australian public by leaping in front of a speeding taxi to pluck a 9-year old boy to safety, sources said on Tuesday.
He was signing autographs outside the Brisbane stadium when he spotted the boy wandering into the path of a passing taxi. Inspector Peter Harding of the Queensland police said that it was extremely fast thinking of Shoaib Akhtar and when he grabbed the child he was just a metre away from the cab
