Aamir Liaqat is a total dramaybaz and I'm allergic to his voice, face and presence.

but Sohail Warraich is one of the best Geo hosts along with Abdul Rauf (host of 50 minutes?). he only asks twisted questions to people with shady pasts ie Wasim Akram, politicians. his questions are a lot less critical and sarcastic to people like Bushra Ansari because he understands the class of the person he's interviewing. he is absolutely fanstastic and adds as as much charisma to his show as much Aamir Liaqat takes away from Aalim Online. I'll watch interviews of nobodies sometimes simply because Sohail Warraich is conducting them. when you listen to his drawl and accent, you don't expect anything intelligent. but he's remarkably witty and funny. his questions are very meaningful and tailored to his guests. his sharpness remind me of a young Moin Akhtar. I was gonna write to Geo to extend his show back to the one-hour format. they've chopped it down to half of its original duration.

Abdul Rauf is another outstanding host. his Urdu is so good. you just want to keep listening to him speak. he hosts an outstanding talk show.

another one of my pet hates these days is that model cum host (of Katakut) Kuki mian whose granny was Noor Jehan. his only lines, "okay. that is cool" followed by "how's the weather over there" (sprinkled with a lot of uncomfortable pauses and silences in between) are getting quite annoying. his accent is horrific and his jokes unfunny and too crude for TV. I think I'm gonna call him on his show and ask him about the weather on the set.

I know. that's what I love about him. I remember he asked some Lollywood chick a very weird question (can't remember what it was). after the question there was a couple of seconds pause and then the girl just burst out laughing. and Warraich just smiled like a naughty child. now that was just priceless. he has done that to so many people and that is why I watch his show - for is ability to annoy people.

maybe you're right. his qquestions can be a bit embarassing. I haven't really seen a lot of his shows maybe 4 or 5. but my impression was that he knows what kind of a guest he has. knowing that someone as sharp as Bushra could insult him right back, he seems better behaved.

but yes, his interview with Wasim Akram was only meant to piss off Wasim. he asked the "paisay ka ziaan and show off" question three times. absolutely hilarious. you have to take into account the kind of person he's interviewing as well. Wasim Akram has had more than his share of controversies. so any reasonable interviewer would bug him about those at least once or twice. but a great compere like Warraich just ups the ante even more.

ps. are you studying for GREs? or have you taken the exam already?

i have to be taking it real soon. actually 9-6 work is draining all my energies so i dont feel like looking at books when i come back home. im thinking of taking a break from work, relaxing a bit at home and studying for them then...

last time i saw math was in freshman yr of college so i need to practice, and i need to learn that vocab wordlist too *sigh

it's very difficult to be able to study something while working full-time especially if you need to use your brain at work too. I took a summer course once while working full-time. I used to show up to class and just fall asleep.

I've just started looking into this stuff. and I'm still not committed to grad school. what I might do is just write the tests (I don't even know which one I should write right now - GMAT or GREs) in case I do decide to apply.

what about you? which schools and programs are you going for? for motivating yourself to study, I'd try coming home and sleep for an hour or something and then burn the midnight oil? if you can do that? I look up salaries for people who did the program I'm interested in to keep me going. not that I'm materialistic or anything.

hmmm sambrialian i think GMAT is for business and GREs r for normal programs. some programs dont require GREs, u'll hafta chek the reqt of the school/dept/prg u r applying to. both gre and gmat from what ive heard r pretty general type of tests. the thing is, unlike SAT's, its not like ur best score counts, so u have to do well in ur first shot. so if u r taking them then u shud prepare for them well before takin em. thats why i am also taking my time with it.

if u wana apply for fall '05 [which is wat im planing] u have time to do everything comfortably but u'll hafta start thinking abt taking gre/gmat now coz the app deadlinez will be around nov/dec/jan.

re: gmat: business school's: good ones need u to have work experience of atleast 2/3/4 yrs. part of me wanted to wait a couple yrs and apply for mba HR but since im applying next yr and dont have the experience i cant do that...

i havent decided yet...have a vague idea abt the programs...something which is a mix of technology and education and social service...hafta research the websites of different schools...
mostly i'll be applying to schools in cali and some east coast schools [only the top ones jus to see if i get in, but i doubt i will] and prolly 2/3 schools in canada too

hmm. salary was never a factor for me, i guess its a guy thing for guys this is the main factor usually ive seen and its natural n understandable for it to be a factor for guyz

my reasons for going to grad school r actually more personal and have not much to do with academics/career at this point... this in itself is a messed up situation maybe thats why i dont have the academic motivation .. hmm..

khayr, MUST start studying for GRE's soon INSHALLAH

u too, best of luck and hey do lemi know if u do decide to apply, keep in touch abt it k good luck
