    Shahid Afridi

is a total Tullay baaz. He is not a cricketer but a mere club player. I have always wondered how he get selected in the team with such attitude. I seriously believe that he shouldn't be part of the team as he has never been serious and has nothing to offer to the Pakistani team.

How about Shoaib Akhtar opening the batting in place of Afridi? After all, it was just one innings that cemented Afridi's place, Shoaib has batted well today too! That will give space for an extra batsman.

One would inclined to think that way but I think it will be asking too much from a fast bowler. Number 6 or 7 is the right place for him.

The way Saqi's bowling he might be considered as a bowling option instead of him. As a batsman he's a waste of time.

Afridi sure is tullay baaz. His philosophy is aar ya paar. Hope he stays on the wicket against India.

I agree with you above...that person really the or maybe a big dissapointment along with Razzaq, but in that match up against India we will need him badly.

Exactly...if you wana pick him compare him with Saqi purely on bowling skils and if that makes sense then birng him in.

Afridi is technically a leg-spinner who can occassionally bat. So by keeping him in team, we are essentially playing with four specialist batsmen and four all-rounders. That is dicey. We need atleast FIVE reliable specialist batsman. Right now, we are playing too many all-rounders and expect them to carry the batting for us.

I think our team selectors believe in the old saying in Guyana that "what rain cannot fill, then dew cannot fill.'' meaning "if four batsmen cannot do the job, then five will not either.'' So instead of playing Taufeeq or Elahi they play Afridi in key matches. But four is too risky.

As such our team is basically simple.

                Specialist Batsmen
                Saeed
                Inzi
                Younas
                Yoyo
                [None]**

                Allrounders
                Afridi**
                Razzaq/Azhar
                Rashid
                Waseem

                Only bowlers
                Shoaib*
                Saqlain
                Waqar

*I believe Shoaib is just a a tulla in last two matches.
**Hence this is a case that we should play Taufeeq/Elahi in place of Afridi

Having said that, its clear that our specialist batsmen are just not coming up in key matches. Against comparable teams they are left wanting. Until Saeed, Inzi and Yoyo get into runs against big teams, there is no way, Afridi or the bowlers can win us any matches.

If he plays, he should be one of the last battsmen, so he can come when the team really needs tullay shots and I am sure if openers give him a good score he can backup the team really well. But they are just keep doing a ghissa pitta experience on him to let him play as a opener.

I hope he doesn't play against India. I would prefer Azhar Mahmood if we need an extra bowler in the team.

If you look at the performance of Pakistani team against Australia and England then you will notice that bowlers are in control of the game in the beginning but towards the end they just can't contrtol the extra runs.

India relies heavily on it's batsmem and Shahid Afridi alike bowlers would be devastating for Pakistan. Azhar Mahmood, if fit, should couple with Abdul Razzaq.

Medium fast bowlers who can throw straight ball would be more beneficial against Indian team.

Afridi has got a temprament problem and we don't want a repetition of Aamir Sohail in this world cup.

Maybe against Australia, but in the manner he batted against Holland, it should some hint of an allrounder within Shoaib. He has nice footwork, he scored most of his runs taking singles and doubles, he only hit the ball past the rope only once and that was a six.
