Saby, I think Afridi is hopeless as an opener and Elahi should open with Saeed Anwar. Azhar Mehmood must be included, man how long are they going to wait for Afridi to click ? I dont know why you say that Afridi bowled better than Saqi. It was Saqi who got Flintoff, when he was really getting settled and started to look dangerous. He did the same with Giles when he tried to slog.

If Afridi must play as the only spinner, then he should come much lower and must not open the batting.

My line up would be : Saeed, Elahi, Yohana, Inzamam, Younis khan, Azhar Mehmod, Razzaq, Afridi/Saqi, Akram, Waqar, Shoaib.

I also dont understand the concept behind keeping your out of form batsman out of batting practice.

Asif i m not saying he should play at the expense of Saqi. I would inclde him in place of either Razzaq or Azhar. Thats why itwould be nice to include bot of them and rest Akram for this match. Afridi got stewart and white?? what when bth were well settled.. I m not saying he is a better bowler then Saqi. He should play along with Saqi. And if not the competition should be between Razzaq/azhar/Afridi for the all rounder spot.

i think INZI should be KICKED out... cuz.. after loosing his weight, he had also lost his mind.

and Also Afridi... he is good for nothing.. when we need him.. he gets out on the first ball

and when we dont.. then he shows his cricket :halo:

with weight, he lost his balls aswell

i read that they didn't allow him net practice so that would make him hungry for runs, turns out hes a pussy cat now

Saby, do you have any ideas what the different scenarios are, now? I mean what does Pakistan have to do to qualify for the Sixes? Do our chances depend on other teams like in the 92 cup or can we still qualify if we win our next 3 matches?

You don't start kicking out your batsmen who have delivered over many years just because they have a bad run. Every batsman from Lara to Hayden to Tendulkar goes through these phases. So let us not bug out over Inzi.

But just to make things clear, we must win the remaining three. Thrash holland and Zimbabwe with big margins. Beat India at all costs. That will give us 16 points in all.

The match against England and India is also a very important match. India got 12 points.

If India lose both these matches, we will qualify along with england and Australia but carrying only 2 points with us (but who cares about that). it will leave us with 16 points alongwith whatever happens between Austalia England match.

If India wins against Poms but beaten by us. They will end up on 16. And keeping that in proprtion. if England somehow beats Aussies. Three teams England India and Pakistan will all finish ith 16 points. and there head-to-head wont matter. Thats where Net Run Rate will decide who secures 2nd and third much wanted spots.

If England loses its remaing matches. against Aussies and Indians. it will leave them with 12 points. and India and Pakistan equals on 16 points but due to head to head result we will end up in second place. and will be able to carry some 6 points with us in super sixes. That a far-fethed scenario i know but thats how things will b decided.

And whats more Australia can lose to zimbabwe if they want to. I dont mind Zimbabwe ending up on 16 points as well. coz if they do all will rest on Net Runrate, and Pakistan is playing the last match of premilinary round on 4th of march and by then they will Exactly know what margin they need.

Bottom Line--> We need to win all three. Pakistan's fate is still in their hands. If they win all three,i think thier net runrate will improve itself. INSHA'ALLAH

Differeent scenarios and sitations are covered

but yeah, thats what we can do alongwith praying for them to get thier act together.

Anyhoo, Pakistan can still do it, all they need is some spirit 92 style. Inshallah!

I hope i made sense up there.

I was just listening to Imrans views on furture teasm slections. He strongly bealieves that we shouldnt play anymore all rounders.

He says choose 5 batsmen, one keeper batsmen and 5 specialist bowlers. His words were, " well all roudners are a great assett in oneday cricket but they are not performing. Play Sami and give confdence to your batsmen and giv them resnponiblity to carry you through to super sixes plus Rashid itna acha bhala batsmen hai usay oopar erain balkay main tu kehta hoon ke Shoaib Ahatar ko bhi oopar ker dein kul ki inning ke baad. Sami wicket nikaal dega aapki jo late reh jaayain gee.

So he says the ollowing team should play.

Elahi/Taufeeq (he firmly believes two left handers will do for pakistan

What do you guys think? I dont quite agree with imran. He is not following hte game that much these days and maybe he isnt aware that allroudners are more necessery in moderen day cricket. Khair lets see

Imran's point about playing two left-handed openers is one I made before the WC started. It would have been invaluable in negating the swing yesterday under the lights. In a day match either Elahi or Taufeeq will do a decent job opening the innings with Saeed.

The important thing against Holland is that Saeed, Younis Khan, Inzimam and Yoyo MUST stay out there and get 50's minimum so that they can go into the crunch game against India with some confidence behind them.

Must win match for pakistan and I am sure they will win it.

Only worry they should not try too much to improve NRR.I know its important but What they desperately need is that their batsmen specially Yoyo and Inzi spent some time in middle and atleast score a 50.if they do that , runs will automatically come and that will also help there confidence a lot.Going into crunch game against India without some runs under your belt is scary.Indian's have decent opening pair in form of Zaheer and Srinath and they have been bowling well.

Holland may not be good bowling side liks Big boys of cricket but they have those slow bowlers who just stick to basics.Keep is simple ,slow it down and bowl straight.

I like the look of that team. I always worry when Razaq comes on to bowl these days - he hasn't took a wicket so far and he doesn't look like taking one either. I don't think Azhar's any better either. But with so many out of form batsmen it would be a hell of a risk to go in so light on batting at this stage.
